Oh this sounds like #Firefox will become a real browser for me soon. I wish they were ready already for the #ManifestV3 thing. But I guess it's good to know they're on it.
@royalrex@Sirs0ri That's one of my problems with Firefox. You need AddOns for so many things that should be standard. But because the market share is so low they're barely maintained. 😅
@kaiserkiwi@royalrex yeeeah, Firefox' add-ons definitely have their ups and downs. I like how so much of the browser can be changed by add-ons (looking at the browsing contexts/multi account containers for example), but I absolutely agree that some of these functions should just be default
Funfact: For some reason I got a search engine selection in Chrome (Have to use it for work currently) and switched to Bing, as I use Bing privately for years. (Mainly because of Bing rewards but the results are often good enough or better so I could avoid Google here)
It's surprising how well this works these days in a #WebDev context. Back then it was absolutely terrible but now the results are quite good.
And as a senior I also am comfortable to read the quick Copilot summary and see if it's bullshit or not.
Still wouldn't anyone with less than five years experience to use Copilot or ChatGPT for anything work related though. Too many small errors and inefficient solutions.
@kaiserkiwi I can't believe that corpos are still doing stuff like this in 2024. Just goes to show how out of touch with society they are, and yet they just keep doing it.
I also can't believe that at one point, thankfully very early on in my career, I would have thought this was "fun" and showed how "not stuffy" my company was. Then again, very early on in my career, this sort of thing would have been Wired instead of so, so Tired. It would have been new-ish back then because I'm old. :kekw:
Corpo culture is so bad. This kind of thing makes me never want to work for a corpo again (amongst all the other things).
@kaiserkiwi kinda related. During the covid lockdowns, it was so cool to see the sky turning blue in some cities and noticing confused animals roaming around.
Trying to work on my couch for the day. See how it goes.
I usually have two 4K monitors attached to the MacBook and have the MacBook open to use the additional space. But I usually have to manage a dev team. On Friday it’s usually much quieter and I can focus on my dev stuff.
If I work on private projects I do it often from the couch so I know it's doable in theory.
I always have the option to switch to my desk so I guess it's fine.
But the goal is to find a good workflow to only work on one screen from time to time to be more flexible with where I work. For example: I never worked in a café and would like to try this one day.
@kaiserkiwi Yeah, that's a huge downsize!
Do you have a gadget to keep the laptop off your lap? I never owned a mac so I don't know if "the device is hitting up and burning my knee-caps" would be an issue for you, but it was for me when I had to code from the sofa.
@evanesca Since Apple switched to Apple Silicon this isn't an issue. I have a M1 Pro, which is not as efficient as current processors, but it get's barely warm.
When I had an Intel MacBook it was terrible ^^" But it was also so loud I couldn't concentrate. For the M1 I never ever heard the fans once since I have it ^^
