📢 Big changes for GNOME! A set of merge requests have been opened that propose dropping X.Org (X11) session support, making GNOME a Wayland-only desktop environment. This aligns with Fedora's move to disable GNOME X11 session support. The shift is driven by the fact that X11 has seen decreasing testing, and GNOME has been defaulting to Wayland since 2016. It seems 2024 might be the year GNOME goes fully Wayland! 🖥️✨

📢 Nautilus is getting a fresh look in GNOME 45! The latest nightly builds showcase a split header-bar design. The new layout extends the sidebar to the window's full height, now titled Places, and becomes the home for the file manager's hamburger menu. This redesign aims to leverage the enhancements in Libadwaita 1.4 and improve adaptivity. If all goes well, we'll see this new split-pane Nautilus in the GNOME 45 release next month! 🖥️📂✨

Mhh yes, the faster they move to Gnome Mobile the less effort will be wasted. On the other hand, with libhandy (now libadwaita) they have already contributed very heavily to Gnome and thus helped determine the complete direction Gnome is going today.
