I'm not sure which "20 peso lunch" I know of in this university is unhealthier: a 120g pack of Lucky Me pancit canton priced at P22 or a cheeseburger priced at P25.

If I get the pancit canton I can just eat it straight from the pack without boiling, which I always love doing! And obviously it fills my stomach more. But then I lose out in the proteins...

If I get the cheeseburger I get the proteins but will get hungrier faster...

P20 meals are really dead huh? I really miss that 20-peso siomai rice meal...

Nearly 48 hours after approximately 1,000 Hamas militants crossed the Armistice line and attacked Israel, fighting is ongoing.

Clashes have resumed in Mefalsim and continue in Sderot after renewed Hamas attacks in that area.

The IDF has stated that they will remove Hamas's ability to wage war and oust them from power in Gaza.

I'm a Luddite. That's not the contradiction that it might sound like. The original Luddites did not hate technology. Most were skilled machine operators. In the early days of the Industrial Revolution, what they objected to were the specific ways that tech was being used to undermine their status, upend their communities and destroy their livelihoods. So they took sledgehammers to the mechanized looms used to exploit them.

The same way as the of today. We aren't tech illiterate. Hell some of us are even !

The Luddites were not idiots who broke machines because they didn't understand them. They were cloth workers who once led comfortable lives, working at home or in small shops, on their own terms and schedules, with freedom and dignity.

When entrepreneurs tried to move their jobs into factories by using power looms and wide frames that did similar work faster, more cheaply and much more shoddily, the Luddites protested. These workers first sought compromise, dialogue and a democratic way to integrate new tech into their communities — to share in the gains. They were ignored. So they rebelled.

Just as people back then had their own personal websites, gopherholes, IRC and XMPP channels, Usenet newsgroups, and mailing lists, writing with passion and optimism in the early days of the internet... And some of them still exist! The optimism and excitedness for a future where everyone has the power to carve their own spaces.. Maybe not. Perhaps a few still do. And I say, more power to them!!

@scanlime It seems they took down the instance hosting the follow bot (which is kishinjou.chaotic.ninja), and there aren't any follow bot in their Misskey at makai.chaotic.ninja (probably because they don't really need to there, the only reason why the follow bot was created according to mima was that doesn't support relays and therefore it's pretty difficult to get your instance connected with plenty of other servers) so that reason no longer applies.

I'm not sure what you mean by "edgelord"? I've had nothing but good interactions with people in chaotic.ninja. And this is just nitpicking from me at this point, but is not an anime. Or at least officially isn't...

The reality of quitting commercial social media apps.

Over the past year, I stopped using FB/Insta/Twitter/Whatsapp. As a result, my ENTIRE social circle instantly ceased to exist. Friends, family, everyone.

Not a single person was willing to keep in touch without using the mega-apps. Attempts to explain why I left only seemed to infuriate people and paint me as a social pariah.

This has very real, very serious life consequences.

@jomel To be fair, costs money...

For me I've made my mom use her via to communicate with me instead of FB Messenger or SMS. As a nice bonus I get due to Delta Chat supporting . I only use SMS when I know either of us don't have internet and Messenger if a media attachment is not getting delivered properly via email for some reason (though I only stick to mobile and desktop web and never use their mobile app)
