I've been using #Ubuntu on my main desktop computers since Warty Warthog, and it's mostly been a perfectly fine experience. Some releases were definitely better than others. Like other users I've not always been happy with the choices made and directions taken by #Canonical.

But I am seriously considering if it isn't time to just get #Debian for stock #Gnome and #Flatpak ease of use.

Got this little fellow, an Argon One M.2 the other day, and looking to set up a few services on my Lan. Still waiting for a few things to arrive. Intrigued by #CasaOS but have zero knowledge about #Docker. I played around a little on an old #RaspberryPi 3 over the weekend just to familiarise myself a bit, but after installing a few docker apps the whole thing froze. I've used #Linux for years, I'm just a regular user, not a Dev or sysadmin, but projects like this can be fun.

@bookstodon I finished a book last night that I didn't really enjoy. Not the story, nor the writing. It wasn't too long and it was entertaining enough that I didn't drop it though.

Then I picked up Fool's Assassin by #RobinHobb and it's such a pleasure to dive into a book by someone who truly knows how to write one.
And visiting loved characters again, of course.

I could have sworn that I saw a stamp with an error a few days ago, but can't for the life of me remember what country it was from
Two skiers racing from right to left, maybe the Winter Olympics, but the one behind only seems to have one ski.
Wish I could find it to check if I am correct. Please don't ask me why I didn't put it aside at once, because the answer is that I'm simply stupid. 😉

I have very faint memories of a book I read in the 80's. It's not that it was terribly good, but I think I was amused by it and it's been nagging me that I can't remember what book it was.

All I remember is that there were Orcs running around in Berkeley and the protagonist was a young man.

It was your typical #FSS 80's paperback, possibly Del Rey.

It's obviously an extremely long shot, but does this ring any bells?

I use #Linux as the main OS on my computers, but also use Windows 10 on one.
For the sole reason to download the #ebooks I buy.
I play the occasional Windows-only game as well, but those I can do without.
I can't do without ebooks.
I really, really wish there was an open standard for getting any ebook, with or without #drm, onto any device without having to rely on a single piece of software from one company.

Awhile ago I saw a post mentioning @clarkesworld a magazine I didn't know anything about. Nothing strange about that, I'm usually not particularly clued up. It mentioned something about subscriptions via Amazon ending. I got curious and bought a digital copy, and realised how much fun short fiction can be.
Magazines need subscribers so we can get that fun fiction. So, now I am one. If you can, subscribe to a magazine and help not just them, but other readers too

I had asked my older sister for advice, and while we didn't really have the same taste in music I wasn't disappointed.

So I'm heading into the Big City tomorrow to visit a SF book store (and to buy licorice). I know some of the things I'll be looking for (Martha Wells, Ann Leckie) but I'll also pick up some #Manga such as Spy X family and How do we relationship?.
I like slice-of-life, a nice believable love story but not really into action shonen stuff.
Suggestions welcome 😁
Manga I like include Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, Planetes, Yotsuba&, BL Metamorphosis, Touring the Apocalypse
