What to call this internet that we should move to. I use #openweb as this is what it is, or #web1.5 for more geeky conversations. Then fall back to #Fediverse for insiders and just #mastodon for the #mainstreaming normal people.
I was 'Compware' during that period and as a hobby/sideline business wrote and sold QL software, resold software and hardware, and probably saw you at the early computer shows in London or Cambridge. I was friends with Futura Software (Paul) and Computer One (another Paul), and met Tony Tebby among others. Happy memories.
3D Slime rings a bell - why wouldn't it - though I can't claim to remember playing it.
Pushing defederation from #meta are not wrong in their sentiment, the #dotcons are vile and cons. But they are wrong from a practical sense, the #Fediverse and #ActivityPub are #openweb based on #4opens the data is in the commons - you do not have technical tools from stopping the #dotcons as the data in the end is in the open, unencrypted, in the database, in #RSS and in open flows.
They are fighting #closedweb on a #openweb platform - makes no sense at all, this incoherences is everywhere
#NGIForum23 The is no way to edit or remove questions. The is no way to talk to anyone... A normal #NGI "trust" #4opens fail, except this time it is a hardcoded due to the use of this CMS for the event. Before this we used #FOSS with #BBB which worked well, then #dotcons silos that worked after a fight each time to get chat turned on, now we are here #blocking, every #EU tech event has pushed this "control" mess over the public. What are you guys in "control" going to do to stop this.
@rriemann@gvlx am looking at it now and trying to find out if it has any way from the public to chat to each other or to the organizers on the streaming video or inside the CMS have not found anything yet, do you know if it has this function?
Had a look thought the #Particify site, and it seems to be only a ONE-WAY tool, with controlled/shaped feedback. Which is why whoever organized #NGIForum23 used it. This is not "people to people" and it's not "trust". How can we go about putting in an official complaint to #NGI and their sponsors about this mess they keep pushing #EU
It appears to me that the logic does not follow? Help me understand.
My understanding is that neoliberalism is characterised by free markets, deregulation, privatization, globalization, individualism, and monetary policy.
Neither neoliberalism nor climate caused changes to building codes to ensure new buildings are safer or inflation driven largely by authoritarian covid lockdowns and command and control economic actions by western nations taken as a result, and I'm unsure of how neoliberalism or climate change would be the cause of lower than expected donations.
Realistically, the past 50 years have seen many waterways get much much better in the west.
Under capitalism (and neoliberalism is extreme capitalism) everything has a price, and thus must be paid for. In general, waterways are "commons" thus do not have prices for meany things, or are cross subsidized by meany stakeholders. Over the last 40 years we have tried (and often failed) to bring this "price logic" to enclose the water "commons" this is going through a new wave in the UK lead by #CRT and #mainstreaming thinking.
