I just heard the bad news that I am probably going to need a new job starting in July.
So, before beginning the regular search, I wanted to ask my Fedi friends if anyone could use a capable C++ programmer with lots of graphics and networking experience. I wouldn't mind a change, so I'm open to anything. Even other programming languages! It would be awesome if I could use Linux to do the work. 🐧
Locations I would consider are: Central Europe, Melbourne, Sydney or Remote
Tomorrow at 17:15 I'll be presenting Gaphor, a free and open source tool for model based systems engineering, at #FOSDEM. The talk is in the "Tool the Docs" track so I'll be paying extra attention to the integration of #Gaphor with different documentation tools. It feels very UNIXy, a small tool that easily integrates with other tools to great effect. If you can't attend there's will be a live stream available here: https://fosdem.org/2024/schedule/event/fosdem-2024-2542-drop-the-docs-and-embrace-the-model-with-gaphor/
Large corporations like the hate on the #GPL even though it has brought them big benefits. #Linux would be nowhere near what it is without the GPL. I always saw #Google's #Fuchsia kernel as their effort to get out of the GPL, since it would replace the Linux kernel. There was even media hype to that effect. Now I'm happy to see that Google is no longer supporting #Chrome on Fuchsia. I see this as a win for #FreeSoftware
https://repology.org/repositories/graphs I found this on Hacker News and I really should take a look at using the #Nix package manager on all my systems. I wonder if it could replace the #archlinux AUR repository entirely. I recently played a bit with the actual #Nixos for work and that was a blast though it likely won't be a good fit for our usecase.

I can't speak for the nation of Italy but I wouldn't risk being banned from their country for life. I bet they would treat this the same as pineapple on pizza.
