Yet another person is using my gmail address with a dot in the username thinking it is theirs - this time it's enrolling their kid in school. Normally I do nothing but should I do something here? I have the damn kids birth cert, full details of the family, etc.

every time I mention Palestine in the DRW newsletter I get at least one (usually more) angry responses with a "why wont you stick to tech/privacy/security" vibe

surveillance and AI tech—fueled by data collection of Palestinians—are amplifying the genocide. Israel exports its tech around the world, 'battled-tested' on Palestinians. Israel has contracts with large data-extractive tech companies. these are privacy and security issues.

@floreani good to know im not the only one who gets these "please stick to tech" complaints massive eye roll

wife has hired an EV for her parents visit next week, experience tells me she will be the one driving it. This might be the turning point in my quest to shift the family car to electric.

@haakon @Kels_316 @nickzoic yep, I'm on that plan and it's great

Anyone recommend an email service that if a free tier for a small subscriber base?

cc @decryption

decryption,
@decryption@aus.social avatar

@jono depends if you’re cool with the service tracking links, clicks and opens of every email

decryption,
@decryption@aus.social avatar

@jono mailerlite is nice and basic, activecampaign has a good CRM component to it, mailchimp is very popular so lots of guides around the net to learn it & integrations that work with it

Got the Casio watch and it’s much smaller than I remember. Looks stupid on my fat wrist. Need a bigger watch!

decryption,
@decryption@aus.social avatar

@simonoid i think i'd like it more if it was just like 1cm bigger on all sides

@jamesh the Swatch Twice Again is nice - $140 is a bit more than I want to spend though.

decryption,
@decryption@aus.social avatar

@tintinaujapon that was my first reaction too, haha - even my wife said "is that a kids watch?"

decryption,
@decryption@aus.social avatar

@georgeharito not bad, will have a look at the dimensions - hoping to spend under $100!

decryption,
@decryption@aus.social avatar

@georgeharito the apple watch is better value than I realised - for ~$250 I get a watch that updates the time itself and has a nice big screen (but it semi-fragile, will require an expensive battery upgrade after 3-4 years and imho looks ugly)

decryption,
@decryption@aus.social avatar

@georgeharito all the notifications can be disabled, but yeah, they can get turned on again pretty easily too

decryption,
@decryption@aus.social avatar

@georgeharito about 1cm bigger, which is nice

48.9 × 42.8 × 13.4 mm
vs
38.2 × 35.2 × 8.5 mm

decryption,
@decryption@aus.social avatar

@joeyjojo I wanted to love the F91W but yeah, looks small on me. Something cheap and in the 49mm x 44mm zone or bigger would be nice
