Multidimensional being. Surprisingly realistic. Bridging melody & rhythm. If you get confused, listen to the music play.

Much to the dismay of my NY friends, I occasionally refer to #Philadelphia as the 6th borough. Seems like some locals are sensing that sentiment too and are not very pleased.

Wishing a happy 78th birthday to John Waters!

A bunch of years ago, I attended an art opening at a gallery in San Francisco that #JohnWaters held for his fine art. His social nature was in high gear that day, he was talking with everybody, all the while with a huge smile under his thin pencil mustache. I had the opportunity to speak with him that day, and at the end of the conversation, I asked if I could have my picture taken with him by a friend. "Of course" he beamed! 1/2

If The Sphere existed in the late 1970’s / 1980’s and the Grateful Dead played shows there, I probably wouldn’t have cared about the visuals.

That would not be true today though.

chip,

@mrcompletely @fogelnet I think at that time, many of us experienced our own internal visuals that I’m sure could rival those of The Sphere today!

chip,

@fogelnet @mrcompletely Colors for the blind. Can confirm.

Hmmm.

Mike Gordon coming to Vancouver, opening for something called "Vampire Weekend."

Worth it?

chip,

@mrcompletely @PaulInRainCity I’m also very much a fan of the collaboration between Mike Gordon & Leo Kottke. I had the opportunity to see them play together at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga CA in 2005, such a unique pairing.

chip,

@fogelnet What a great set list!

#IWasThere and remember them opening the show with Midnight Hour. Epic.

chip,

@mrcompletely @fogelnet I listened to this show again last night & this morning. I completely agree the first set was fun, the set list was novel & the audience was psyched. Overall, the playing was nothing to write home about and Jerry sounded like he was struggling (not uncommon for the time).

chip,

@fogelnet Ha! I can probably still speculate who might have distributed them (but I won't).

chip,

@mrcompletely @fogelnet Nice, I’ll have to listen to it again with that perspective in mind.

Periodic reminder: The only way to write good code is to write tons of shitty code first. Feeling shame about bad code stops you from getting to good code.

chip,

@mrcompletely @hadleywickham I immediately thought substitute “music" for “code” same same.

@Conville @lizardllama How cool to have a head shop in the family! I never went to Artifix or Wonderland, the head shops I grew up with were The Balcony at 69th St. and Critters in Bryn Mawr.

@Conville It was definitely called Critters. @fogelnet Can confirm. Whippets were definitely consumed on the P&W heading west. @lizardllama
