@vwbusguy I have a few IMB Model M’s and Cherry MX Blue Keyboards in the garage now as backups/retired keyboards, but my main keyboards now are Cherry MX Browns or similar. Reason being is I got tired of spouse and co-workers complaining about the noise. I haven’t missed the Blues with the Browns like I thought I would.
It's been a minute since I've let y'all know how much I'm into this PRS guitar I picked up last year, but I'm very much still a fan. It's ridiculous how well built this thing is and the tonal versatility.
@laydros@vwbusguy The last guitar I picked up was a Squire Strat in Surf Green that I intent to “hot-rod” with some pickups that are hand made/wound by my uncle. I don’t know if I can provide any other details on the particular pickups until I ask him about the current patent status of them, because they are unique in their functionality. He’s been making them for about 4 years now on a small scale and was in the patent process back then, so probably OK now.
@laydros@vwbusguy Obviously the “hot-rod” project went on the back burner since I bought that guitar roughly 4 years ago too and haven’t started it yet.
@vwbusguy Ah, I see. When I bought them roughly 15 years ago I thought they were the same spec as Texas Specials, but manufactured outside the US. May have misremembered or misread somewhere along the line. Time flies.
@thunderbird Any plans to add an “Unsubscribe” button in future versions? I know there is an extension that provides this functionality, but reviews say it no longer works.
Are you a #redis user? Unless there's something specific you need from redis-7, #SnapChat has a drop-in #opensource replacement for you called #KeyDB. Coming very soon to a #Linux distribution near you!
@killyourfm I didn’t even realize Rebirth was out. Now I just need to wait for the PC release, which should give me time to finish the remake and Crisis Core. So behind on my game library.
@killyourfm that display doesn’t shoot radiation directly into your eyes, so there is no incentive to sit too close to it. Need a CRT for the full experience. /s
why are we seemingly so keen to replace laptops with tablets with ever more elaborate UXs, weird accessories, hacks and workarounds for things that have been solved problems on laptops for decades?
seriously, if i only had a single device limit in my computing life it would be a laptop. everything else is just inferior.
With the vtebench dense_cells benchmark, I am getting on average 66.35ms for cosmic-term and 62.7ms for alacritty. Not bad for a brand new renderer that adds ligatures, bidirectional text, and some GUI sugar!
@soller I might have missed it somewhere, but is the goal of cosmic-term to remain as minimal as Alacritty, or is it going to include a lot of the niceties that you would get with something like Kitty?
I'm a 47-year-old musician who's been playing guitar and writing songs since I was 16.
I just got my first amplifier. Yes, I am a walking contradiction. But that doesn't diminish my OVERWHELMING excitement right now!
The backstory: I didn't actually start recording any of my songs until about 8 years ago, and my solution for that was simply to play through a DAW and use software effects.
@killyourfm I had one of the first Fender Mustang modeling amps and it was pretty sweet! I’ll haven’t tried the Boss Katana or the Line 6 Spider modeling amps, but I may be in the market for another bedroom amp soon so you’ll have to keep us posted on your experiences. Also, congrats!
@thelinuxEXP@AsahiLinux same boat (MacOS is not for me), however I’m just waiting for Asahi Linux to be at 100% hardware support (or 100% of what I need) before I finally switch. I wish I could switch now, but that machine is my daily driver. Battery/charging thresholds and Thunderbolt are the big ones for me. My M1 MacBook Pro spends 99% of the time in clamshell mode hooked up to a dock. I follow it closely though and look forward to the day I can ditch MacOS!
@geerlingguy that makes sense. The Red Hat fiasco does make a good argument for going the community based product and not relying on commercial interests. Thank you for your insight as always!
