@gedeonm I’ve been surprised of the intensely positive opinions of it I’ve come across online. For me, something about it just doesn’t sit right, but I can’t quite pinpoint it.

@gedeonm I do agree about the lazy writing. It reminds me of later Doctor Who style writing: heavy on fan service, over reliance on the same antagonists, witty dialogue as a substitute for deeper character moments, and plots that quickly (and nonsensically) wrap up because the show is out of runtime.

I finally got around to watching s2ep1 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds last night. Super concerned with what I saw. The first season was near perfection; this episode was a massive shift in tone and writing quality. @gedeonm I’m a little concerned from this episode. This was bland action. It also wasn’t entirely as self-contained as last season’s episodes. I didn’t fully dislike it, but I hope it isn’t setting the tone for the rest of the season.
