@anthropy Why does society want people that are sick to the degree I am in the first place? I know your country has assisted suicide for mental illness. It's why I give your country some slack cause at the very least it's not going to keep people here it can't care for. Why even say you care about mental health in the first place when the first sign of it making you uncomfortable is to just neglect it or is that just a here problem? Why does society want me here?

@VonKarth don't take this wrong but, you need to Get Help. And be honest with your therapist too. You are a vampire when it comes to mental health, you blame everyone around you except yourself for your problems, and get aggressive towards them about it too. You can't rage yourself into friendships, that's not how it works, and the sooner you learn this the sooner you'll find friendship and peace.
If you want to have a normal conversation you can poke me, but this? You'll get ignored by everyone

@ErikUden seems like they've updated it there now, although the wording still seems somewhat pervasive? also showing Gemini's response for comparison. Gemini doesn't seem to want to answer the subject at all from either side.

I do always wonder if these kinda things aren't pre-prompted with something weird that caused the conflicting output, it's hard to tell with just the last few lines being screenshot, and it's not impossible to make them 'roleplay' all kinds of asinine things.

    Bought some classic dutch sugary candies at the local yearly market yesterday, was talking with the seller and he was "I also have a really big one, it's the last one and it's broken in half so you can have it for cheap if you'd like" and long story short I have a 1.5M long kaneelstok now

    If you think the public memes about Google's AI Overviews in Search were something, you should see the internal ones, basically everyone is asking what the hell is going on, asking if there was a dogfood/beta participation chance they missed, etc. It smells like the whole thing was a shareholders idea, though then again it's a large company, and I mean, it could've been fun at least, but the way it's presented makes me uncomfortable too, as much as I don't want to throw colleagues under the bus.

    And like, idk, i personally feel the completely closed up PR approach is a large part of why google is met with so much suspicion, even though on the inside it's just people too, the same kind as outside, and everyone has opinions in the end, but I guess that could easily become a PR nightmare, so yea

    I have so many questions

    • What do you mean 'higher density', you can now only have a single stick per machine or am I seeing that wrong?
    • "DIMM is inefficient" okay so you squish more DRAM modules on a single PCB so now you have to throw out even more good DRAM modules when one of them dies? How is that efficient?..
    • it also looks significantly more fragile, like adding a CPU socket
    • why?! 😭

    @FayeDrake depends on your definition of normal, literally; if normal is furries, hang out in places furries hang out. if normal is people who hang out in bars, you could try a bar I suppose, but yea it depends what you like. Hackerspaces can be fun places to just hang out and talk with people in too. Some museums and alike have similar clubs centered around a subject. Might be other kinds of events and places to explore in your area, can help panning a bit about with google maps to see options.

    @FayeDrake also good to mention: digital places can still be real places with real people. I've also heard of a lot of people making new friends in VR and such, but it depends on whether you like VR. IRC can also be cozy, and discord and slack and what not else chat groups of your preferred platform.

    edit: and while on the subject of IRC, you can probably find MUD (Multi User Dungeon) and MUCKs, which is like a chatroom but with more roleplay, definitely fun if you're into that sorta thing tbh

    I guess I shouldn't be very surprised that editing a toot would cause a bunch of sidekiq requests but not the same amount as a full toot, yet I somehow felt just compelled enough to add this to this thread so here we are. makes me wonder how that works though 🤔 you'd think it'd cause similar requests and what not? maybe I should read the spec instead of spec-ulate but I am far too eepy for research tbh
