It’s simple: I’m not afraid of servers. 😂
5 servers: 2 for http requests, 2 for cpu heavy background jobs, 1 database. Plus a load balancer.

Honestly, what scares me is serverless, especially the billing part. 😬

Worked at "Big Blue" for over a decade, saw many of these cases, more common than people realize.

My role involved reviewing finances for medium-sized customers.

My hourly rate was ~$20 (quite good back then), but on the invoice sent to the customer was ~$8500.

That is ~425x.

I can't help but wonder what would happen if they simply used a VPS (or 2+ with a load balancer).

In the worst-case scenario, their servers would be overloaded - still better than receiving a $23k bill. 🤷‍♂️
