I’m seeing folks from #Sudan on #twitter despairing that the site’s new limits, and its general m*sk-era brokenness, will compromise their ability to stay updated on the catastrophe unfolding in their homeland and share emergency info.

Just lived through my first ever 50°C HeatIndex day ever,

5 hours of which were without mains electricity due to 'load shedding', so no air conditioning, just fans.

I am so sapped of energy, and in disbelief...

Hv to go check up on the stray kittens im fostering in the garden soon, as soon I feel less weak. Already lost a handful of shade plants to the heat.

Setting “mastodon.social” as the default on the main Mastodon mobile app kicked a can down the road and turned into a keg of gunpowder 🥫➡️🧨

It might have solved a UX problem (instance selection) in the short term. But it introduced an exponentially harder sociotechnical problem: scaling moderation.

Instead, we should:
a) increase the number of smaller and well-moderated instances.
b) turn instance selection UX into a productive type of friction.

The main intersections on the top-left corner.
The road leading up to it from the south is a 2 lane road.

At the turning, it widens to a whopping SEVEN LANE turn.

Before shrinking back to 3 lanes at the intersection.

So much planning right?

@mekkaokereke not to belittle the #BIPOC experience in North America and Europe,

But us in the #GlobalSouth wont see much of a difference. So, meh.

We have been having Trump-style demagogues climb into power and ruin our nations with hate and incompetent government from #Pakistan to the #Philippines and even #India.

Every single one fully supported by the Hate peddling ad-muscle + Algos of #Twitter, #Facebook, #Whatsapp, #Youtube, et al.

Our nations never stopped being poisoned.
