What we are working on at our composting station is to have enough homemade compost of the highest quality to cover all our needs and never buy compost again. Here is a nice video that tries to explain how to achieve this goal.

@compost this presenter is one of my favorites.

Here’s a non YouTube link for those who want to break the Google ‘compost’ cycle.

I’ll let you in on a secret: I love sporadically updated weblogs. I subscribe to over 1200 feeds and most of them are sporadic or even technically “inactive”. Months often pass between updates

It means that every post published was important to the writer

Back in the days of snail mail, letters that began with “It’s been a while since I last wrote to you” were the ones people cherished the most

You don’t need to post every day or even every week to have a blog that matters

@baldur or a site that is available 24/7. How do people feel about that?

Have you heard about this? Do they glow in the dark? Is this a good thing?

I looked today. To order one bioluminescent was $75 with 2 day FedEx shipping in the US. Kinda pricey considering they are an annual where I live.

This story about a Texas town slowly destroyed by the climate crisis reads like cautionary sci-fi from a decade ago but it’s quite literally their present and possibly your near-future.

Roads washed out until the only escape from the town is on foot. Public services slowly eroded and then abandoned entirely. Collapse slowly, a little bit at a time, and then suddenly all at once.

@HeavenlyPossum interesting story. The point that stood out to me. Private services, like roads were created by the developer. Did they fall short of established standards? Less expensive means more profit for the developer. Developer walks away and uninformed homeowners take over.

Imagine a home built from cardboard. The first rain melts it away.

Public services, like water, and health care have been sold to private companies focused on profit. Expect more stories like this.
