Did you ever notice that any shop selling carpets or rugs always has a closing down sale, but even after years, the store is still there, still advertising the closing down sale?

@8bitworkshop I came across 8bitworkshop while looking for a way to run Verilator in the browser. I'd love to do something similar

From a brief look it seems like you're using a verilator compiled to wasm which is what I'm looking for. Do you have any details on how that is achieved anywhere? Presumably you compile the verilog using the wasm verilator, but what do you do with the resulting C++ code? Do you also run a cpp compiler in WASM?

@thezoq2 @whitequark can I help with any of this stuff btw?

@whitequark @thezoq2 not very, but I’m happy to do some research

@whitequark @thezoq2 so just to understand this properly, the goal is to compile clang to wasm and have it be distributable via Python/npm

@whitequark @thezoq2 ok I’ll have a read through that stuff. Is there any timeline on this?

@actuallyautistic @dukeoffailure so for me, eh important thing is to split the work properly. Ive sadly not had this yet, but I’d imagine to start with a series of meetings where the problem is dissected into parts and Interfaces are defined. Then people set off on their way. From time to time there should be a meeting where problems are discussed and resources reallocated to help with the challenges.

@actuallyautistic @dukeoffailure I led a small group of students. I checked in on them every day, said hi and made sure they had the support they needed and had a clear picture of what they wanted to do. Then we’d work on that stuff and people could find me if they ran into issues or wanted some advice/second oppinion. The rest of the time (most of it) we would work on our own things

Private jets are a luxury for the ultra-rich who wreck the planet with destructive lifestyles.

North America (basically the USA) is home to more private jets than all other regions of the world COMBINED.

Private jets are ~10 times more polluting per passenger than scheduled flights, and 50 times more than an average train ride.

It's time to #BanPrivateJets

@breadandcircuses I do understand that flying a „private“ aircraft in such a manner is still pretty resource intensive, however with the rise of UL aircraft and a new generation of engines they have become about as efficient as luxury cars. Then there are developments like the Otto aviation Celera 500 that does about 21 miles to the gallon. How do you view these developments in light of your proposed ban? How do you think about the future of aviation?

@breadandcircuses hi, I’d actually have a question in this regard. I used to go gliding (I.e flying engineless aircraft) in my free time (before university took up most of that), now if I end up with more time on my hands, I’d love to go flying again, but will probably opt for powered flight (or at least some sort of „backup engine“ in case of a glider, because rules have gotten tighter over the years and also due to the limited time I’d like to maximize flying time.

@breadandcircuses for me Aircraft have a particular awe to them. The tech and the ingenuity inspire me and to that extent I’d hate to see aviation disappear(even though I’m sure that won’t happen in any case). How would you propose to keep those aspects around while effectively (not in a greenwashing sense that is often seen with lege corporations) reducing the impact aviation has and the unequal ways it is utilized?

@dpnash @autisticadvocacy @JessTheUnstill @actuallyadhd @actuallyautistics @actuallyautistic @ReimanSaara @theautisticcoach I agree with you, however your sources do leave much to the imagination. Do you have some source material for this?
