Finally back from Japan and looks like my #pinephonepro imx258 driver patch series had some discussion around dropping unneeded patches so v6 has now been submitted! Sakari mentioned some more rework might be needed on a few but looks like a lot of the patches are in good shape so hopefully we are a lot closer to better drivers for all!

New @aislerhq package arrived, first time using a solder stencil. Now it's just waiting on parts...

Luigi311,

@martijnbraam @aislerhq let us know how it goes. I’ve never worked with something that small and i always think it’s crazy when I see videos of people applying solder paste through a stencil and plop the pieces on like nothing.

Finally consolidated my notes on things I've done to get the #PineTab2 working (mostly) the way I want it to. Some gathered from the forums, some that I noticed and/or figured out myself.

Luigi311,

@KelsonV thanks for putting this together all in one place. Interesting that rotation can be fixed in plasma, going to need to give that a try.

v3 of the imx258 #pinephonepro camera drivers have gone out! Hopefully it goes a lot better than the last one in terms of setup, information and following the process correctly. https://patchwork.kernel.org/project/linux-media/cover/20240403150355.189229-1-git@luigi311.com/

For those of you curious this is what the #pinephonepro camera looks like with my autofocus #libcamera and that new driver. This was late at night with only my room light on so it is still pretty noisy but it looks decent enough.

upstreaming imx258 driver work continues! Its my first attempt at upstreaming anything to the #linux kernel and even submitting patches via a mail list so its been a learning experience for me and a rough one at that but soon the #pinephonepro will be able to use a mainline camera driver and get something useful out of it and will greatly improve #libcamera support since even downstream was missing lots for it.

@droidian The pace of progress on the droidian project is incredible by #linuxmobile standards. What’s the secret? Is it a mix of lessons learned from UBports using Halium with vendor kernels, lessons from Mobian running mainline, and then just combining the two together? I’ll be testing droidian on my OP6 shortly and I’m very excited! Congrats on all the success!

Luigi311,

@williamtries @droidian neither. The droidian main developers have just been working through droidian issues and halium has been getting more work done to fix issues which benefits both droidian and UT. Mainline has no effect on halium based devices.

Ive taken some pictures on all 3 native #linuxmobile devices in case anyone wants to see how they do in automatic point and shoot scenarios. Also included a iphone 12 and a pixel 6 for comparison and looks like the pixel 6 was more true to life. 0 is in the dark hence all the noise though the pixel and iphones have a nightmode and those were used automatically. Download them all so you can rotate the images if needed

Finally got all 3 native #linuxmobile devices #pinephone #pinephonepro #librem5. Going to have to see how the camera compares on all 3

Finally decided to order a #librem5 #purism Is there a matrix/discord server for discussion? I found this page but it seems like those matrix servers are invite only, is forum discussions only?

Does @firefox not support wasm on ? I see back in janurary spidermonkey js was ported to riscv but i dont see any references to the wasm side of things and it looks like a test wasm video editor doesn’t work on my while the js portion works fine https://d2jta7o2zej4pf.cloudfront.net/
