I do a lot of photography and I share it on my deviant art page.

It’s SFW, don’t worry.

Pretty great

Finally upgraded my resin printer to having a flex bed and my only regret is not doing it sooner

I also finished upgrading my printing enclosures to using 8in ducting for ventilation. This combined with the 8in fan I’m using puts the ventilation at cycling the entire air contents of my room every 2 minutes at the highest setting or once every 4 minutes at the fan setting I use.

To do the upgrade required me to print a 8in duct splitter because buying one is prohibitively expensive.

What the adapter looks like (it's a gif)https://files.catbox.moe/ojn0q5.gif

I started the migration of my NAS to a new system but that’s going to finish (hopefully) by Friday. The data has been duplicated I just have to wait a bit as a piece of software I need to install on one of the VMs has its key locked until Friday (can’t be activated on a new system) and that piece of software is currently installed on the system that will become my new NAS.

Edit: rendered the clip at a lower res

If the parts that break are either unavailable or incredibly difficult to replace then I agree. (Held in by glue I’m looking at you ya bastard)

But just because it breaks doesn’t mean it’s planned obsolescence.

Where I work in the freight industry we have little handhelds we’re supposed to use that get dropped all the time. Occasionally the screens break or the cameras break. Both of them are held in by screws and are swappable in that event.

Fairphone is a device I’d love to get as they are very easily fixable but they still break when dropped. The parts are readily available for purchase as well. It’s just not easy if you’re outside of the EU.

I wouldn’t say a drinking glass is a device, a simple tool yes but not a device.

Shorts are the bane of my ADHD ass

I’m going to have to look into Greyjay for sure just for the no shorts part

It sometimes happens for me as well

Usually I can get to the vid if I go to the channel and try again. Or trying again a little while later.

It’s fuckin annoying when it trips

In the file browser and also in programs that access the network drive.

NGL I’d try to avoid terminal if at all possible

The default file manager on Mint in Nemo

But I’ll do some more trawling in the settings and look into a new file manager if I can’t find a setting for it

Gormadt,
@Gormadt@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

It’s kinda worked

Now the underscores appear between uppercase names and lowercase names

So it’s a step in the right direction for me for sure now that they’re at least bunched together

Honestly I think I’m just going to have to go through and rename the folders as faffing about with locales isn’t my idea of fun lol

I was going to install Dolphin file manager (which has a sort option that does it the way Windows does) until I saw a known bug of “sometimes crashes without error and just loses the files you were moving” which is an absolute deal breaker for me. I do photography as one of my hobbies and I’d lose my shit if I lost the pictures I took in the process of making backups.

Gormadt,
@Gormadt@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Plus I wouldn’t have to worry about the issue again on other distros

It’s just going to really really suck renaming all those folders

Gormadt,
@Gormadt@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

There’s definitely more than that lol

Any tips on where to start in that regard?

I heard that Nemo (the default file manager for Linux Mint) has bulk rename abilities baked in but that’s all I’ve heard about that

It was definitely a pretty fun session

It was also pretty fun when the old timer players were like “He does that that a lot, trust me it’s better than seeing him try to look things up”

I find I DM better riding by the seat of my pants than trying to strictly adhere to something

Building a brand new machine and leaving Windows for good

I’m sick of Windows, and especially what it’s become, and the way its trending looks like it will only get worse. I’ll be building a brand new PC this summer and want to choose a Linux Distro instead. In preparation, I’d like to try out a virtual machine with a Linux distribution. I am solidly familiar with Ubuntu, but I...

I hear Bazzite is good for gaming but I haven’t personally used it.

I use Linux Mint on my machines (except my NAS which has TrueNAS going on it) and I’ve got no complaints so far other than my vertical monitor being a little tough to have a vertical login screen (though that’s so niche it’s barely even worth bringing up) and I’m not even sure that’s an issue on other distros (I don’t distro hop)

My experience with Manjaro is from a decade ago (oh God I’m old) so it really doesn’t apply to anything modern but I have heard it recommended at least a few times and a friend of mine swears by it for everything (he always reminds me it’s based on Arch BTW)

My other friend who uses Linux swears by Pop!_OS and he loves it. I personally don’t really dig the default look of it.

All three of us primarily play indie titles if that makes any difference for you.

Personally I’m moving away from Windows this year (ideally before the end of June) so I’m curious what distros others here recommend as well

Or how I’d put it: One needs to apply first aid when dealing with a gun shot wound. You don’t just try to dig the bullet out while still on the sidewalk. Pressure, call for help, get a bunch of people involved, then you can deal with the problem in a better way.

It’s steps in the right direction that I’d hope will put on closer to having a higher education system closer to the majority of the EU.

Unfortunately we have to get passed the GQP first before we can get to that point.

Straight up no-true-Scotsman-ing it up in here

I’ve had people getting pissed at me in some comment sections calling me a centrist because I think we should vote for Biden to keep trump out of office. Nothing at all related to my political views other than telling people that they need to vote (which is apparently another cardinal sin to some “leftist”) if they want to change happen in this country. Especially in their local governments.

Done so to increase manufacturing in the US utilizing a number of incentives passed in 2022 and 2023. Which near the end of 2023 was projected to create almost 100k jobs in just the electric vehicle industry.

Thank you

I tried to find a link a couple weeks ago and I came up short

Gormadt,
@Gormadt@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Don’t worry, I got you

Here’s a link to the tutorial for doing exactly this.

As a bonus it also talks about how using Rufus you can remove the requirements by default when you create the install stick.

One thing I’m curious about is of using a micro controller with a much larger receiver would extend BLE sniffing capabilities.

Or setting up some LoRa equipped micro controllers to do sniffing in an area and syncing that data using a LoRa mesh to an active database of some kind. (Like utilize something similar to (or in fact) Meshtastic)
