In a way.

In my SF series (The Franssisi Four Chronicles) I have written several bed scenes from a male PoV.

I asked a good friend of mine to look at them to see if I got it right. 😳

He went over them in detail, in chat. And yes, I got them right. Ahem.

Full day, with some rough news in the family (no, not saying more).

I did write 600 words for the Wolves, proofread about 20 pages, edited a couple of pages for a friend (deep, massive edit), and survived the office day and a dentist appointment (no cavities).

I did take time out to spend in the Botanical Gardens, since today was the last sunny day before a series of rainy ones.

I bash my head against an imaginary wall, of course.

Kidding aside, it used to be no problem. Until it suddenly was.

It helps having more than one project to write, and I will jump into anything that gives me progress.

Except now when I have a (self-imposed) deadline. Life is not helping right now, either...

Tired today.

Proofread some pages, edited half a chapter for a friend and took a long walk that only proved I have no strength left.

No writing.

However, I did play with keywords for South (and messed up the KDP set-up somehow). I hope that means more visibility. I will need to play with Amazon Ads a bit more, as well.

Tomorrow I have to go to the office and the dentist. We'll see how much I get done.

#WordWeavers Day 10/17. What’s your greatest writing-related fear?

Losing my drive to write. Losing the joy of living inside my stories.

I've had years with little to no writing, and maybe I do need those breaks from time to time.

But I have plans - yet writing has become hard. I'm afraid I might lose it.

What's the biggest inspiration for your writing?

When readers tell me they love my stories. When they ask questions about my characters and my world.

That's what gets me going, that and Writer Brain coming up with intense scenes (that I then have to turn into plot points...).

Next are my characters. I love them to bits, even if I put them through hell. But I love them, and I give them happy ever afters.

Does your MC or SC have any idiosyncrasies?

When Earth gets stressed, she hides out in her garden. Caring for her plants gives her peace and strength. (Very typical for an Earth, actually.)

She also retreats into herself, not wanting to stress anyone else. Few people notice this withdrawal.

#WritersCoffeeClub 16/10. How do you feel about flashbacks? Do you use them?

Flashbacks are a tool.

They need to be used right in order to be effective.

So yes, I use them when the moment feels right. I just try to be careful and not overdo them. They are one way to offer backstory, one of many.

I hate it when they are blatantly used to mislead a reader.

I love them when they are fun and well done.

Yes, I do have the sense that I dealt "better" with overwhelming situations before I found out that I am autistic.

But the truth is that even decades ago, I refused to do more than one social event per weekend. I always needed alone-time. I always curled up with books.

So I believe I'm more aware of overwhelm now. And that gives me the chance to withdraw earlier.

Of course, menopause might also have an effect - making me more thin-skinned.

Who knows...

Earth has spent all her life in the Sacred Square. It is located in the center of Holy City in the Holy Empire.

On each corner, it has a tall pyramid (Aztec style, with stairs). A wall encircles it, and only Priests can come and go. The Winds and Pillars are locked into their Houses.

24 Houses sit along the wall, the First House is in the center.

Guten Morgen!

Crashed hard last night, after reading about three books over the day, and not much else.

I'm telling myself that I need this downtime, but on the other hand, I always feel guilty.

Because I never write enough.

Hm. Maybe I need to go back to setting a minimum word count per day, and I could start with 100. (I can write that in 5 minutes.)

You could try a text to speech app. There is balabolka, for example, let the computer do the work.

I did that with one or two of the Wolf books when I turned them into audiobooks (yeah, via AI), and that helped me find more errors.
