Yeah I was reading that and I’m like… ok so what does this have to do with an e-bike? This is just a condemnation of the gig economy. One can only assume that they are implying that none of these problems would exist if this dude was using a car, but they’d actually be 10x worse if he was

Not as major as most news outlets make it out to be. I try not to lock my bike outside if I can avoid it, but I can lock it indoors both at work and at my apartment

Having an ebike in New York is what having a car in any other major American city is supposed to work like (but can’t because car-centric infrastructure is terrible city design)

Nothing is more than 30 minutes from me. There’s parking everywhere. Only requires low cost infrastructure to be usable. Traffic jams are infrequent and short-lived. Ownership and fuel costs are low. Environmentally friendly. Quiet. Great for recreation. Is very safe for the user and pedestrians.

Trump said his trial was so rigged that not even mother Teresa could beat the convictions so a few conservatives have taken to calling him father Teresa

What has a more powerful negative aura?

Hillary Clinton saying “Chile”

Or 10 year olds saying “Gyatt”

Labour deselecting left-wing candidates and women of colour in first week of campaign (mastodon.green)

Labour has decided to start their campaign with a bang, pruning women of colour and left wingers from the ballot due to reasons such as liking tweets sharing Jon Stewart videos. At the end of the day it boils down to support for Palestine....

Can’t wait to find out if the tories or the fascists will be the primary opposition of the red tories

In case you wanted to visualize the inefficiency of US military/contractors: Upper image is what the US built in Gaza for $320 million. Lower image is what China built in Guandong for $220 million. (hexbear.net)

The United States has such a large GDP because 1/3 of it is the private healthcare industry. Another massive chunk is the government throwing tax dollars at a shell company of a shell company of a shell company that moves a government contract for construction around to each other 4 times, all subsequently increasing GDP.

And they are loaning each other $1000000000 over and over again (with interest)

It’s so pathetic that it’s almost like the military/military contractors are the biggest single kleptocratic scheme on earth to funnel government money into the hands of private capital.

It’s so pathetic that it’s almost like Israel didn’t want the United States to interrupt their ethnic cleansing process, so the United States built a pier that never was actually supposed to work all that well in the first place.

CoolerOpposide,
@CoolerOpposide@hexbear.net avatar

Yes but they are waves in a warzone (the pier was never attacked by either side of the conflict)

CoolerOpposide,
@CoolerOpposide@hexbear.net avatar

Well… that WAS it until it broke a few days ago

And then started sinking almost entirely yesterday

CoolerOpposide,
@CoolerOpposide@hexbear.net avatar

Did the pier break or sink because it was in a war zone?

biden-alert no healthcare, jack. We need another 300mil to build another disposable pier

Massive lithium discovery across Rust Belt states. The Marcellus Shale formation, known infamously for fracking to extract natural gas, is found to have enough lithium to supply 30-40% of US demand (hexbear.net)

Now imagine if we could learn from our past in the Rust Belt and see that temporary good jobs are not enough, so we should nationalize this resource in order to bring a wider benefit to the region outside of just this industry. Oh well though, that’s not really worth it when we could make like 5 or 6 people SUPER rich instead....

Mexico City’s water crisis deepens: Due to extreme drought conditions accompanied by outdated infrastructure, Mexico City and the surrounding area now has only 1 month of drinking water remaining. (www.businessinsider.com)

Experts say that Mexico City could run out of drinking water by the end of June, an event locals call “Day Zero.”...
