Have you ever attended a virtual book club? Which one? How was your experience? #BookClubs #books #reading

@razumasu I used to attend one on Instagram. It was fine. The conversations were quality.

I called the doctor's office at the right time. I got in this week. Usually it's a two month wait time. Someone must have just cancelled.

So I am not going to run out of my meds after all, but I do still want to talk to him about weaning myself off of them. I know I need meds to go about my life (bipolar 1), but I don't like how harsh the meds I am on are. The TD itself is almost unbearable.

@wedge We do monitor it, but our alert didn't go off. We will look into that. Thanks for the heads up.

Well, all my neighbors should leave today. They'll probably leave early because it's supposed to be rainy. Can't spend the day on the lake in the rain. It's been busy though so I think we're off to a good start for the summer around here.

In Cheboygan, Michigan, there are no local journalists to report news.

Local residents are turning to Facebook for local news. (Personal note: argh, Facebook isn't a reliable or trustworthy resource to learn what's happening in your community.)

@redcrew As someone who doesn't live too far from Cheboygan in northern Michigan, this is nothing new in our rural communities. I rejoined Facebook just to get my local news and information from my local officials. Everything is done on Facebook and it is very concerning.

challenge: Choose 20 books that greatly influenced you. One book per day, for 20 days. *No explanations, no reviews, just covers.

Day 2:

  • I’ll be brief: Christopher Pike’s books were my introduction to thrillers and scarier books. Fall Into Darkness was the first book I read of his, probably around 7th grade.

@Likewise When I was a kid, I was penpals with a boy in Florida and we would send each other books. This was one he sent me. Good memories!

I don't know what this bush is. My mom planted it years ago. We are all very allergic to it, but the flowers are so pretty and they only bloom for a short period of time so we haven't torn it out.

Oh, and Jill Biden was in the area yesterday and today.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in a relationship?

Mine might sound kind of dark in relation to the question, but here goes:

People change, and they should, it's part of being a person. Some people are lucky, and they change in the same direction, but some don't, and that's okay too. There's no shame in leaving a relationship or changing the nature of a relationship that no longer serves you. We are all taught that every relationship, whether romantic or friendship, is supposed to last forever, but nothing is forever, and forcing something that no longer works, just ends in anger and bitterness. Knowing when to let go is as important as knowing when to hold on through a rough patch, and how to know either of those things is the most cliché advice of all, COMMUNICATE.

CindySue,
@CindySue@bookstodon.com avatar

@RickiTarr Be aware that you're going to hurt each other sometimes without realizing it. Communication when those times happen are key. My husband and I have been together 20 years and it's not always rainbows and butterflies, but we work through whatever life throws at us together. You have to realize you're not alone and there's someone who wants to help there. TALK. Always talk.
