Mathematica must be getting jealous of the LLMs, and has decided to insist on just the right prompts if it’s going to answer sensibly.

1st result: supposedly true for all values of k > 0.
(This is correct.)

2nd result: supposedly true for all values of k > 1.
(Umm ... what?)

Cazzandro,

@gregeganSF now I am curious, who did the captioning?

It looks interpreting the picture correctly

Cazzandro,

@gregeganSF for a moment I thought of some AI plugin so clever that could add such advanced captioning on the fly. I think it's time to learn Mathematica.

A bit late to the game but I finally got around to giving Universal Paperclips a go.

Besides all of the philosophical questions it poses (and I think it poses more than any other game I've played) - I can't help wondering if the crazy level of battery consumption it causes on my phone couldn't have been mitigated by rendering all those varying numbers in a GPU shader rather than with Javascript.

Cazzandro,

@BartoszMilewski @dpiponi @abrnv how does reptilian brain theory explain why we enjoy doing maths?

Cazzandro,

@BartoszMilewski @dpiponi @abrnv what about pure knowledge without the rush of solving a problem or compete with someone else? Just the pure pleasure of reading a book on the Copenhagen interpretation? How does not know the reptilian brain of the difference between theory and escaping a predator?

I have a theory why zombie movies are so popular. In big cities, we are constantly surrounded by people with whom we have no emotional connection. They are like zombies to us. In Star Trek we have the Borg.
(Spoiler alert!)
In the recent Star Trek Picard series, which is blatantly targeting the older generation and is dripping with nostalgia, the Borg zombifies everybody younger than 25. Figures!

Cazzandro,

@BartoszMilewski I live in London and I am commuting now. They look to me more like monkeys (please do not take this as a racist comment, just in the Darwinian sense) than zombies.

Mathematician Karl Weierstrass was born , Halloween, in 1815.

The fools at The Academy all said he was mad, but in 1872 he announced that he had succeeded in creating a monster.

Cazzandro,

@mcnees However maybe it still can be differentiated in a more general sense?
