When I was an undergraduate I used to think the reason no postgraduates came to student societies was because they felt awkward among the 18 year olds.

Now I'm a postgraduate and tbh that is indeed part of the reason, but the main reason for me is that I'm always just too exhausted to do all the stuff 🤣

You wanna be up and at it from 9am to midnight daily? You do you, but I'm gonna sleep for 12 hours a night instead

I've seen a fair amount of anecdotal theories that #autistic sensory sensitivities get worse with age; however I'm curious as to whether that may be caused by many older autistic people experiencing #AutisticBurnout which also makes sensory stuff worse...

I'm a postgrad student, but I'm in a couple uni societies that are mostly undergrads and some of them could make a 22 year old feel old with how difficult it is to understand what they mean sometimes 😂

My lecturer felt the need to clarify that we were not to get generative AI to write our assignment. The world has changed since I was an undergraduate.

Update: apparently that was indeed a necessary clarification, given that there are several people on my course who thought it was a great idea to use #ChatGPT to write their contributions to group assignments 🙃

Had to go through a group Google doc last semester and remove fake references to fake papers "written" by such fun figures as "Death".

I truly did not think people would be so blatant, but there you go.

Sometimes, structured socialising in the context of a special interest can be energising for me. Like playing #DnD. I actively enjoy being around people for that.

But unstructured socialising where the conversation topics aren't set, and I might get asked questions about my personal life is so, so draining.

Worse is I feel obligated to answer the questions. So then people think I'm comfortable with it.

Something I've found with myself as an #autistic person is that I've been misinterpreted so much in the past, that I now communicate in an overly-specific manner to avoid being taken the wrong way.

And therefore I come across to others as "pretentious" for using long, specific words where most people would choose something simple.

Have any other autistic people found the same thing?

I'd delete #Instagram if I could, but I need it to view ever-changing menus at local cafes.

They don't post them anywhere else and I have suspected #ARFID.

So if I delete it, I'll just never be able to go to any local places.

Yesterday my mum and I were in a #Morrisons and decided to go to the cafe.

Except they'd completely removed the humans from taking orders, and the computer order thing had a queue of six people, none of whom knew how to work a touch screen.

We had to give up after fifteen minutes of the queue not moving while an 80-year-old woman stared at it.

Our society is not at a stage yet where completely removing human staff can even function at a basic level.

(It also has a non-autism-related meaning, but I don't think that's very common use)

This is a very horrible article, and I wouldn't recommend reading, but if anyone is looking for a source, this was written by Jonathan Ferguson, a member of the #AutisticDarkWeb and so-called #Neurorealist who claimed to coin the term in relation to autism.

Sadly it seems like there are some people who are willing to throw anyone and everyone under the bus to win #ScottishIndependence

But what, exactly, is the point of indy if we aren't building a better country? What's the point if people's lives get worse?

Independence needs to be for ALL Scots including trans people, immigrants, disabled people, other queer people, people of all genders and races and cultural backgrounds.
