And since it's July 13th over here: Happy birthday to Yohane, my favorite Aqours idol, fallen angel, and now magical fortune-telling singing hero of Numazu!
Just watched the first episode of Genjitsu no Yohane! Very cute so far, I adore this artstyle. The moments with Hanamaru were really sweet, I'm hoping for a lot more with everyone else :zerotwoheart: Insert song itself didn't particularly stand out to me, but the MV was very pretty. And the opening MV that played at the end :akko_excited: So excited for this series :mexcitedmiku:
Very sweet episode! It's nice seeing Yohane make more friends :nadeshiko_2: (I really like the touch of her always being slightly awkward in the group shots, like the jump up or the construction cheering. Reminds me of the Sunshine S1 opening, with everyone jumping down off a ledge and Yohane just getting unexpectedly tossed lol). And friendship seems to be part of the key to the staff, though apparently she also needs them to sing (Maru's symbol only appeared on the staff this episode.) Friendship + singing = magic staff power. Seeing her declare that she's home in Numazu after spending time with You, Kanan, and Maru was really heartwarming; it's so nice to see her grow like this :zerotwoheart:
The #yohane finale was wonderful. Absolutely loved this series for what it did and the story it told. I never thought that I'd be as attached to it as I am, but I'm so glad this series was created even from an April Fool's joke. Thanks to all staff and cast involved.
#Yohane is by far my favorite seasonal this season. I can't count PreCure as a seasonal lol, but Yohane continues to be such a good positive show that features love and good vibes to feel better about yourself and others. I love it so incredibly much.
I WILL BE GETTING A LAILAPS PLUSHIE!
More Mari love in today's #Yohane episode. Today's motif really hit me hard as someone who feels they struggle to fit into places, so to see those three find each other was immensely heartwarming. I absolutely love this series.
The Takami family Million Dollar schtick was hilarious, and then Dia just one ups that with the Scarlet Delta thing :6183_AquaLaugh: That launch sequence was so excessive. Arisha is fated to be a sentai forever.
And that joint action sequence was so cool! :AquaYeah: They're really delivering with this show.
And cute Mari! Yohane calling her by name and complimenting her demon look (because of course) and flustering her is so adorable. And she gives out sweets :aquanom: (I like how this is playing out, while referencing the manga scenes.)
And we're getting some real plot development. I'm liking the overall balance so far between progressing this whole save Numazu plot, and just having fun with Aqours in fantasyland. :nadeshiko_2:
New episode of Genjitsu no Yohane was fun! Was getting even more Love Live Sunshine vibes from this episode. Part of that was getting to see a few more members of Aqours again, with some fun nods to the original. (The piano background music that started playing when Riko appeared was a particularly nice touch.) I think there was also a lot of classic Yohane coming through in the episode: Her introduction to the kids in her doorway still manages to give off chuuni vibes. She's back to fortune-telling, complete with the creepy Yohane background music from Sunshine. And Hanamaru coming along and helping her to make friends instead of just hiding out in her room by herself (ahh the two of them are so cute :nnezukolove56: ). Getting more Aqours with the new setting is a fun time, though of course I'm looking forward to the anime exploring the new story and world more.
Also, it's been a while, but I recall that ending scene with Chika happening in the Genjitsu no Yohane manga, as well as the line about her fortune-telling business devolving into her just doing errands for people. I wonder how that material will end up tying into the anime.
Yohane Sunday!!! :AquaYeah: I gave Riko a dog too, because of last episode. :blobfoxcryreach: The next episode sounds like it will also be really sweet, I can't wait. :nnezukolove56:
Have not had wifi all day (checked out of hotel in the morning, spent the day at the con, and then had to travel back) and now I'm sleepy, so I have not watched this week's episode of Genjitsu no Yohane yet. :akko_sad:
But still a happy Yohane Sunday! Here's a random hotel Yohane. :nadeshiko_2: Excited to watch it tomorrow!
I'm still so happy about the new Genjitsu no Yohane episode! I love Riko, and we got so much good Riko content today!! :zerotwoheart:
The shyness theme is really sweet. :nnezukolove56: I think it makes a lot of sense for Yohane's character, and it's so nice seeing her become the one who helps others work through it. Especially Riko, who's always been a shy dork. (Yohane was the first person Riko gave a flyer to in Sunshine episode 3 :meowbongopat: . And YohaRiri was always a great pairing in Sunshine.) Yohane getting Mari and Riko to be her friends, I feel like this is the Guilty Kiss episode I've always wanted. :akko_hug:
Also, the plot idea of bringing together people's Resonance in song to protect Numazu... I thought a bit about this last episode, but this is really reminiscient of the lyrics to Deep Resonance. It looks like we might actually get Yohane belting, like the end of the song, through the anime darkness. :mmikusing:
The new Yohane episode!!!! :nnezukolove56: Really hit with the feels early on. :akko_cry:
I loved the theme of this episode. I feel like it really gets to the heart of Yohane's character, and even to the heart of Love Live Sunshine itself: Someone struggling to figure out who they are, and having to worry about what others will think about it. (Also remembering that Maru was the one to explain this part of her to the others in Sunshine episode 5. Maru has always been so sweet with Yohane. :zerotwoheart: ) Once again, Yohane has found friends in Aqours who let her be who she's supposed to be, and now she's here helping Mari do the same. (And helping in a way that's not putting the Kurosawas into joint locks, as useful as that was in Sunshine.) I've always felt that Yohane's character arc was essential to Sunshine as a whole, and I love seeing that on display as this iteration makes her the one who's bringing everyone together.
Idol showcase at AAC today!!! Gonna be performing Forever U & I from Genjitsu no Yohane! :mexcitedmiku: ("Oh I can make that costume in a couple weeks" - me a couple weeks ago :blobfoxlaughsweat: .)
