Severe thunderstorms are likely today and tonight across the southern and central Plains into the lower to mid Missouri Valley. The most numerous/intense storms are expected from north Texas into Oklahoma and southeast Kansas, where strong tornadoes, very large hail of 2-3 inches in diameter, and damaging winds of 60-70 mph are all possible.

A few tornadoes, including a couple of strong tornadoes, isolated very large hail (greater than 2 inch diameter) and isolated wind damage will be possible, mainly this afternoon/evening from northeast Kansas/southeast Nebraska into northwest Missouri and southwest Iowa. Occasional severe storms are expected farther south into Arkansas, eastern Oklahoma, and northeast Texas.

Isolated severe thunderstorms capable of producing large hail (2+ inch diameter) and gusts to 65 mph will be possible this afternoon and evening across northwest Texas. Additional strong storms producing hail up to 1 inch diameter and gusts up to 60 mph are possible from southeast Wisconsin and northern Illinois into Lower Michigan..

Hey #wx people—recommendations for PWS? Looks like it may be time to replace the 20+ yo Davis Vantage Pro2. It’s running through batteries very quickly—probably a capacitor gone bad—but the housing is weathered too. Davis now says they don’t have parts for it. (And did Davis get bought out?)
I’d like something with solar sensors in addition to the usual, and a means to upload data. TIA
