A new find for this week's #ThursDeath, another band I found via a flyer of a band I dig (I forget who) since both bands are playing together soon.
Chicago's VOIMATON play a great, chuggy mix of death doom that is infectious. It's tough to make a full length death metal album and make the whole thing damn great, but Voimaton definitely did with 2022's 'Profane Vestige'.
For this week's #ThursDeath, a one-song slab of death I can't stop listening to from Kentucky's CELL INTRUDER. They just released this "Rapid Detorsoing" demo in January and it RIPS. Psyched to see what else these guys do.
For #ThursDeath this week, something special I somehow missed from 2023.
Canada's COPROLITH (what's in the water up there in Canada?) released this grody, crushing, disgusting self-titled demo last year. It starts with this wall of sound type riff and then it devolves into this midtempo riff, and goes back and forth.. THIS is the shit I LOVE. And then 6 tracks of this. 🤯

This week's #ThursDeath is one man OSDM project from Tennessee, CHUNKED. This is a SERIOUSLY good EP of as he calls it 'primitive, knuckle dragging' death metal. Great release I somehow missed last year.
For #ThrashThursday , a Dutch band (eventually disbanded, I presume) with a good thrash vibe mixed with melodic death metal, straight from At The Gates school (so, let it also count as a #ThursDeath entry).
One of my favorite new bands playing old school Floridian death metal. These kids wear their influences in their sleeves. Early Death, Obituary, Malevolent Creation, etc.
For this week's #ThursDeath, I got an early listen to the new WITCH VOMIT album 'Funeral Sanctum' and can confirm it's a ripper - the rest of the album is just as good as (if not better than!) these two preview tracks. Contender for my top 20 of the year for sure.

SEPTAGE is from Copenhagen, Denmark and they have a pretty cool, grody sound. Their new record 'Septic Worship (Intolerant Spree of Infesting Forms)' comes out tomorrow.
It's messy and weird, but to me, it's also instantly likable. Kinda OSDM, kinda other kinds of metal maybe. Check the first released title track and grab the rest tomorrow!
This week's #ThursDeath is a crusher. Australia's CARCINOID put out their first full length in 2019 (also recommended), but their EP 'Encomium to Extinction' is their newest from November 2023, and it's 5 more solid, GREAT tracks of death. 🔥
Got a good #ThursDeath for this week. Canada's SCORCHING TOMB bring some crushing, mid-paced cavernous metal. Just how I like it. Been listening to these guys a bunch lately.
This is their EP 'Rotting Away' from 2022. Their demo from 2019 and split with Primal Horde from last year are both excellent, as well.
A late #ThursDeath, as it's been an insane day. I've been compiling a 'grody metal' kind of playlist and Mexico's STENCHED is a crown jewel within it. Plus, they have one of the best band names of all time.
This EP of theirs 'Gorging on Mephitic Rot' from June of last year is solid bangers front to back. I've been listening to it all week. 6 tracks, 23 minutes. Whew. 🔥

This is how I want metal to sound. Grimy and crunchy and gross and amazing. SUPER cavernous growling vocals. All 4 songs are incredible, I even dig the intro. I love EVERYTHING about this. 🤘
