For #ThursDeath this week, something special I somehow missed from 2023.
Canada's COPROLITH (what's in the water up there in Canada?) released this grody, crushing, disgusting self-titled demo last year. It starts with this wall of sound type riff and then it devolves into this midtempo riff, and goes back and forth.. THIS is the shit I LOVE. And then 6 tracks of this. 🤯
Rotted Life Records have some INCREDIBLE bands on their roster.
Yesterday I ran across this incredible Maryland based death metal label Rotted Life Records. Fans of chunky, gross worm-infested cavernous sewer metal like @HailsandAles, @wendigo and I are will definitely wanna give their stuff a listen.
They have a couple new ones coming out later this month, too. Almost everything I've heard from them so far is 🔥
This week's #ThursDeath is one man OSDM project from Tennessee, CHUNKED. This is a SERIOUSLY good EP of as he calls it 'primitive, knuckle dragging' death metal. Great release I somehow missed last year.
Strangely, I owned no death metal on vinyl until last night. I ordered the Degraved EP from last year, Whispered Morbidity. It's one of my favorite metal releases ever (and now there's only 1 left, you can grab the last one here - https://degraved.bandcamp.com/album/whispered-morbidity)
It should arrive by the end of the month. It's this beautiful blue/teal kind of vinyl. This is the stock photo from the site. 😍 Will get photos when it arrives of the whole deal, cover, etc.
Call it another late #ThursDeath for this week or an early one for next week, but this EP that DYSMORPHIA put out last year is RIDICULOUS and I have it #NowPlaying
It's Thursday, so you know what that means. #ThursDeath.
SEPTAGE is from Copenhagen, Denmark and they have a pretty cool, grody sound. Their new record 'Septic Worship (Intolerant Spree of Infesting Forms)' comes out tomorrow.
It's messy and weird, but to me, it's also instantly likable. Kinda OSDM, kinda other kinds of metal maybe. Check the first released title track and grab the rest tomorrow!
#NowPlaying - a new discovery today, GRAVE INFESTATION from Vancouver. It's some pretty great and dynamic death metal. Digging the sound of this. This is their debut record from 2022.
This week's #ThursDeath is a crusher. Australia's CARCINOID put out their first full length in 2019 (also recommended), but their EP 'Encomium to Extinction' is their newest from November 2023, and it's 5 more solid, GREAT tracks of death. 🔥
DISMA are awesome. If you're into a doomy, cavernous metal sound that has a diverse mix of both super fast galloping beats AND doomy spots (a really killer OSDM feel - the RIFFS!) these guys are for you.
ALL Disma's stuff is great, but this is the one on Bandcamp- 'The Graveless Remains' EP from 2017.
I promised a killer #ThursDeath for this week, and here it is.
In January, Tennessee's PURULENCY released their 'Transcendent Unveiling of Dimensions' demo and it is a BANGER.
This is how I want metal to sound. Grimy and crunchy and gross and amazing. SUPER cavernous growling vocals. All 4 songs are incredible, I even dig the intro. I love EVERYTHING about this. 🤘
Keeping in the theme of crypts from last #ThursDeath, this week we focus on the almighty CRYPTWORM.
Yet ANOTHER band with that great sewer sludge sound. It's catchy, too - there's riffs and dynamics, not just all blast beats, growling and rumbling.
Their new album 'Oozing Radioactive Vomition' (great title, right?) comes out next week, and you can hear a preview track (that I can't stop going back to listen to) here:
grumble-mumble-frown 😑 Well... it's #Thursday and, at least around here, it's morning. And it has all the usual things: being tired and yawny, grumbly and annoyed, it's dark and cold outside, it's way too effin' early mutter-curse-bitch...
...but it's also #ThursDeath, so I get to try and exorcise those crappy things with some nice #OSDM#Death#Metal. Silver linings and all that.
