Woke up early er when I should be waking up and did not nap. The exhaustion is subsiding.
Finally replenished groceries after 6 weeks of shopping anxiety due to only shopping for one. Still overspent, but at least the random food cravings will go away and maybe reignite my passion to cook.
Logged back in to #PokemonGo so I can get more steps in each day and have fun while doing it.
Long phone conversation with youngest granddaughter who is graduating high school on Thursday in NC. Happily, there will be a live stream so absent grandmas can watch.
Met a lovely woman who runs the local cat rescue service -but- the 🐱🐱🐱seem to have disappeared. (Maybe it was the all-day hammering next door yesterday!)
High winds bent my patio umbrella, but now it actually looks jaunty & Great Gatsby-ish.
Long phone call from NC son who is hosting seven houseguests & a grad party for 60 high school seniors this week. He & DIL are fabulous chefs & hosts…I wish teleportation was possible.
Sunday afternoon nap after a lazy morning outside.
Making Asian dumpling soup again. So easy, so yum.
Apparently I’m keeping the three 🐱🐱🐱for awhile as de-kittifying has been delayed & more food delivered. Mom Felicia hisses 😾at me, but the kittens are fun to watch.
My A/C worked fine at first usage (since fall) last night. Triple digit temps on their way next week.
Another blissful morning reading on the patio, next to pots of petunias.
I had an idea for some #ELearning experiments in Storyline, I built them, and they worked
A good chilled evening run
I was today years old when I discovered Arooj Aftab, and these 10 minutes of her jamming & fan-girling over Anoushka Shankar is what I want my internet to look & sound & vibe like, so have a video
Familiar, comforting sounds all morning from the landscaping project next door (we remodeled everything in our first home). I think today is redwood deck day.
Also the day of tiny flying things - bumblebee, hummingbird, dragonfly, butterfly - in my garden. (Oleanders at their peak bloom, below.)
Clean house, clean sheets, & I still don’t have to cook, thank you taco soup. Another blissful Thursday.
Bonus: Trump GUILTY x 34.
Another beautiful day in sunny/breezy NorCal. I haven’t yet used the A/C this year and it’s almost June.
My local grandkids assure me we have a plan to de-kittify the yard this weekend, and NC granddaughter won more awards last night, including MVP for lacrosse.
85% settled in with new iPad, although not having the “Home” key feels like a stairway without rails.
Bonus: 4) An afternoon nap!
New iPad Air arrived a day early & was a breeze to set up. (Unlike the olden days when upgrades were 48 straight hours & a million crises.) Does this keyboard make my font look fat? 🤪
Carpets & kitchen floor tile cleaned, yay!
The city won’t come capture the 3 stray kitties but one or both local grandkids will. Meanwhile, the cat food fairy arrived & I named mama cat “Felicia,” as in, Goodbye, Felicia.
Spent all morning outside watching the critters, including a stray mother cat and her two kittens who apparently think they live here now. (YES I put out food and water, NO they aren’t staying.)
Finished organizing photos & apps for transfer to new iPad when it arrives Wednesday. 😋
Made taco soup last night that will last for days. I therefore declare this as ‘No-Cook Week’!
Homemade won ton soup last night but made with P.F. Chang dumplings, which I guess makes it dumpling soup. TGTBTASE (Too Good To Be True And So Easy)!
I’m a big fan of Aussie film/tv and of actor Simon Baker - found two newish movies of his: “Limbo,” which was EXCELLENT, and “Blaze” which I saved to watch today. Yay. 🍿🍿
Vagabond son & DIL sent these pics of Canyonlands NP.
Sat outside reading with “my” critters for three hours this sunny morning. The neighborhood mockingbird is a VERY enthusiastic virtuoso!
Brunch was leftover plain rotini with dollops of Tostitos’ queso dip. Unbelievably tasty/spicy (& not all that decadent).
January’s Albatross chicks in Dunedin, NZ, are about halfway to fledge time. The average chick now weighs about 20 pounds (equal to an adult) and are getting some dark wing plumage. (By comparison, bald eagles fledge at about 12 weeks & males weigh about 9 lbs.) Here’s the live-cam boy and his mom, talking things over before lunch. ⬇️ (From “Lady Hawk” YouTube channel)
Despite initially not wanting to socialize (been a bit exhausted this weekend), I caught up with some old friends from the neighborhood we used to live in and had a blast!
Ongoing testing of Chaos Dungeons to make them a clearer and more consistent continues.
Two-hour afternoon concert by our enthusiastic neighborhood mockingbird, a master in polyphony, with ballet interludes by squirrels & jays.
The hummingbird I spotted yesterday announced his official return with the customary hovering outside my screened slider, and roosting in his regular spot in a myrtle tree.
I snapped this photo scrambling my way through a dense, overgrown oleander to scatter birdseed.
