Wow, I don’t follow clock, but that seems pretty fast! I noticed that he didn’t flip the clock over at any point during the solve. Is that due to luck or skill?

I don’t think it’s luck. I’m pretty sure he can memorise the "cross" position of the other face.

I think that’s around my 4x4 average. Max can consistently solve a 7x7 in the time it takes me to solve a 4x4. He is incredible.

Why are we so shy about discussing our and our kids’ in public? We began attending cubing events about six months ago. My pings a lot there. Only as a parent and I realized our kids were similar, the floodgates opened. It was nice! And the kids heard us talking and joined in a bit. No stigma or drama, but still initially hush hush.

But WHY?

I got myself a new 5x5, the YJ MGC magnetic model, I had not gotten myself a new cube since like 2019 and this thing moves faster than my 3x3 somehow. To be fair I have to clean it up, it's been a while.

Sub 3 minutes, I had not practiced in ages, I feel like I can be sub 2:30 today with how dirty my solves are right now

The Mirror Cube is delightfully evil, because it totally fucks up my muscle memory, forcing me to know what I'm doing. Back to re-learning some algorithms, I guess. 😀

@fnord I did that quite a few times when I just wanted to rest my eyes when going to bed, but still wanted to solve a cube. The mirror cube is just perfect for that.
