Bee and butterfly friendly wild flower area in our garden with poppies, corn flowers, sunflowers and many other plants.
In total ca. 100 m2 in our garden are reserved for wild flowers.
I’m captivated with bees (bumblebees in particular), and could seriously watch them all day long. Capturing images of them hard at work is my new favorite pastime. ❤️
We have a couple of different kinds of poppies growing here and there in our garden. A few years ago I tossed some wildflower seeds around so every year different flowers appear.
Somehow I never got around to posting this California Poppy photo from late winter. it's one of several native pollinator-friendly plants I bought from a local conservation group last fall, and IIRC it was the first to start blooming.
Welsh poppy, Meconopsis cambrica, unsurprisingly known in Welsh as Popi Cymreig. Flowers reliably in my garden from late spring to early winter. Pollinators are very happy to see it later in the year.
Poppy 'Lauren's Grape'
Papaver somniferum, is an opium variety. 🧞♂️
This is another Poppy that self sows for me every year and they are EVERYWHERE! This is my first bloom of the year but over the next week they are going to explode and the bees are going to lose their minds 🙃 They love this one!
Inspired by my son, who buys #flowers for his room each week, I bought a small bunch of #poppies for my office. Almost all the buds were closed on Sunday. I put the vase behind me and every time I turn around, something has bloomed and shifted! It's so trippy and fun to observe. I feel like I'm being watched. 👀🌸
