I wasn’t happy with the long blade nib I swapped onto my Laban Skeleton, so I searched around for a different one to use. Wasn’t looking forward to pulling the nib since the first time around it was super hard to do (for some reason, the housing does not unscrew, and the nib was stuck in there really tight). Luckily it was not that hard to pull this time.
I found that one of the purple Nahvalur nibs I have and its feed fit well into the Laban housing!
It felt weird not to post something today, now that Inkvent is over. But I did have some blog post ideas percolating during Inkvent, so I decided to write one of them today:
I've really grown to like this #Moonman -- I mean, #Majohn T1 #FountainPen. But I find its #nib a bit more troubling than most.
Good news: it's apparently a "#6" and other people have commented on being able to replace it.
Bad news: I have no idea what to look for in finding a replacement. The threading looks really fine compared to other #6 nibs... It's not a big deal if I can't find a replacement, but considering how much (little) this cost compared to competitors, I'm curious.
@Planet_Kai Interesting discovery - I accidentally ran my Brass version through the wash, and the nib became a hook. The replacement #Kaweco#nib I got is the most satisfying fine nib I have ever used. Firm but super-smooth.
Also reposting this, as I’m excited about this new #FountainPen#nib. Been using it a bit more today and changed ink to a shimmer one and no change in the smooth performance, even on the EF side of it. We’ll see how it fares with the shimmer ink tomorrow. https://mastodon.social/@jezlyn/111099280388724389
I've got an #artsupply question which is really hard to answer with information from web pages etc.: How do you prepare your nibs beyond getting rid of the conservant oil or similar coating?
Do you sand them? Adjust the angles with a whetstone?
What is your personal procedure to get from stock nib to favourite "your" nib?
Please boost for coverage. Looking fwd to your answers 🖤
After a quick flush to the nib and feed, it writes beautifully. I was expecting a dry writer, and I was ready to nib swap, but it's quite wet and smooth.
I filled it with Rohrer & Klingner Verdigris, it's a beautiful tealish-blue black ink.
