Breakthrough: I wrote a program that prints a line of text!
So what's the point?
Program written in #rust, cross compiled on #debian, linked with #vlink to a TOS executable {on Windows), put into a disk image on debian and executed on a real ST via a #gotek floppy emulator with #flashfloppy firmware.
New blog post! It's not easy being green. Neither is being an uncommon orphaned MS-DOS platform with a strange disk format. How will we ever get the Kermit terminal emulator/file transfer utility on this old battered Sanyo MBC-555? #retrocomputing#retrocomputer#msdos#sanyo#floppydisks#gotek
It's wonderful to have the Gotek emulated floppy disk drive fully incorporated within my Atari 520 STFM and have it all working.
It's still a beautiful 16-bit computer to look at and yes although the Amiga has better music blah blah blah, I still love the Atari ST for what it is.
PS: I own an Amiga A500 and Acorn Archimedes A3010 and love them too!
I wanted to install a Gotek floppy drive emulator in an Amiga external floppy drive case. Unlike in YouTube videos, where everything is all rosy, my old floppy drive, a Roctec RF332C, had a different connector. 26 pins instead of the 34 pins + 4 pin power connector in the happy day scenario.
Using schematics hunted down in the English Amiga Board, I put together a frankenstein of a cable. It's ugly as hell, but it worked on the first try. Yay!
I hope someone can mod a #GOTEK with #FlashFloppy so that it can be installed in your #Macintosh and maybe have a smol USB-C connector so you don't have to casemod it, but just use one of those adaptors or double-ended USB sticks...
#AtariST put back together. I borrowed #Gotek drive from the Amiga and updated the firmware on occasion. I didn't know that the FDD connector on the Atari is upside down :)
Question that the #retrocomputer / #retrogaming community hopefully can help answer
I'm thinking of getting a #gotek for the #amiga 500 for internal fdd.
i know gotek can be setup and connected to the amstrad #cpc464
Question i, can the amiga gotek be used for the 464 without changing it everytime its swapped
I'd need different cables etc, and I'd hav 2 extend floppy connection from amiga to outside case. But its more the firmware i was thinking about
