The goal of Geomob is to provide a forum to learn and exchange ideas about any interesting services and projects that deal with location. Everyone working in or curious about the location space or with location services is welcome. You absolutely do not need to be some sort of GIS expert (though GIS experts are of course welcome as well).
In this week's episode of the podcast (Ep. 220) we hear from recent Geomob Lisbon speaker Patrick Ribeiro about explorer.land - a map-based storytelling and transparency tool for nature-based projects related to climate change.
/6 @doublebyte, the organizer of Geomob Lisboa and maps extraordinaire, gave the final talk at #geomobLX before the much-awaited #geobeers and mingling.
She chose to speak about geo-use cases of the Parquet data storage method or GeoParquet. Joana is certainly an advocate for its efficiency with large datasets.
Fun fact, she helped Paulo with 96 datasets for his eMOTIONAL Cities project!
On the 8th of May, I am going to be talking about #geoparquet at #geomobLX
GeoParquet is a cloud native format for enabling geospatial interoperability between cloud data warehouses. It is basically a spatial extension of #apache#parquet (:
Two weeks from tonight on 🗓️ May 8th it is once again time for Geomob Lisbon 🇵🇹. Hope you can join us for interesting talks followed by discussion over #geobeers 🍻
5/ Fourth Geomob Lisbon speaker was Patrick Ribeiro of https://explorer.land presenting the need for geo-transparency to give investors the confidence to invest in urgently needed climate projects
