Blow Up (1966)
Fashion Photographer Thomas comes upon a troupe of mimes who’ve taken to a tennis court to stage an imaginary match. As a pair of them bat the “ball” back and forth exhibiting graceful form, even if their ground strokes don’t seem all that formidable. The “ball” is hit over the fence, and Thomas must make the decision to indulge in this act of surreality and throw it back onto the court.
After another long day at work, I challenged myself to watch and write a film review in one evening (it normally takes two). I think this one came out a little rougher than normal but also quite different.
Either way, I hope you enjoy my review of Burke & Hare.
OK, back home tomorrow, so no more reviews for a week at least. ;-)

WW2 American Army Medic Desmond T. Doss, serving during the Battle of Okinawa, refuses to kill people and becomes the first man in American history to receive the Medal of Honor without firing a shot
An excellent remake of the George Romero classic. My Favorite Zack Snyder movie. James Gunn's screenplay mines every ounce of terror from the high-concept premise
You may now have a moment to Google what a "Mall" is.
That'll teach you to give birth right next to a Hot Dog on a Stick.
Watched Your Name last night, it was stunning, such a well told emotional story. Made me realise I must of missed so much good Anime of the last decade or so since lost touch with following it. So any recommendations for films, too many TV shows to catch up on to start another right now. But 10/10 would recommend Your Name. #Anime#FilmMastodon#Film https://trakt.tv/movies/your-name-2016
After a year of box office flops, I just want to take a minute and reiterate my stance on the quality of these films versus how much money they make.
I DO NOT believe a movie is bad just because it fails at the box office. We've seen countless examples of classics that flopped. It's possible for a movie to fail because it's bad, but remember that good/bad are subject to opinion.
There are a LOT of reasons why films fail at the box office. Quality isn't always one.
The Holdovers opens on Friday. Despite seeing the trailer several times at my local Odeon, it's only showing at two other sites near(ish) me: one far to the other side of Dublin, the other in the city centre but not the centre of the city, more like the port. Adventure awaits. #FilmMastodon
Poor Things was published in the same year as Gray’s Why Scots Should Rule Scotland, an anti-imperialist and democratic-socialist argument that advocated for civic nationalism where people are equal and active participants in Scottish society. He was an unapologetic supporter of an independent Scotland and a passionate Republican... his repeated order to “work as if you live in the early days of a better nation”.
