@funkybuddha @Tutanota @tychotithonus For your regular password, it doesn’t matter – it should be stored in your password manager, so it can be as long as the website allows. You cannot possibly keep dozens of secure passwords in your head. I typically use 16 characters.

As to the main password which is the key to your password manager’s encryption, it should withstand offline attacks. In https://palant.info/2023/01/30/password-strength-explained/#choosing-a-truly-strong-password I recommend using diceware, such passwords are easier to remember. Depending on your level of exposure, four to six words should be sufficient.
