The #Scifi Book Stores in #Stockholm, #Gothenburg and #Malmö are one of Sweden's most profitable businesses in book retail. They sell tabletop games as well. So at their recent equity issuance I did something unprecedented and bought some stock.
The Stockholm #Scifi Book Store is bang in the middle of the Old Town's main tourist street, where almost every other shop space offers either tacky souvenirs, meals or snacks. Big shop, hundreds of square metres on two floors. It's amazing that they can make that work!
Tried my hand at another game of #TinyEpicDinosaurs but this time used a more balanced solo variant from the BGG forums and it was much more enjoyable. I won by 5 but never felt like I was running away with the game.
Last night I played a Funko's Scream Game with three other people, and the overall feeling I get is that is perfectly emulated the anxiety of working in a disfunctional team: someone understand rules badly, everyone's shouting at the same time and no one plays cooperative, but trying to get rid of their objective.
Hey boardgamers with your resources represented by various coloured wooden cubes. When thinking about #immigration, remember that #immigrants are one of those resources. Sure, every 20th light brown wooden cube or so may come with a point penalty. But the net effect of receiving those cubes is super strong. It's how you win the game after the Demographic Transition.
Took folks to school playing #PaoloMori's #LibertaliaWindsOfGalecrest, but just literally speaking, as I was teaching the game. 😁 I did win, but just a squeaker of a couple points. Tight spread between players at the finish, which always makes for a more tense game. Chaotic, but so much fun and underrated in my book.
Junk Drawer - fit the items in the drawers according to the scorecard to gain points. Quick and simple. I like this.
Comic Hunters - Draft to collect sets of comics to score points. I liked the various ways to get the comics and the decision on which collections to make.
Started playing Don't Get Got with the family and it's vicious! It's a game that goes on in the background as you do other things, potentially over days.
Everyone has 5 tasks - things that they need to get someone else to do. If they call you out on it, the task fails. Whoever completes 3 first, wins.
Tasks are mostly inconspicuous stuff, like "Get someone to do a dance", or "Tell a player something is voice-activated. Get them to try it".
Looking forward to trying this mini expansion for Forest Shuffle, which apparently addresses some of the balance issues with those wolf and deer combos. Oh, and also a sweet little promo card.
1/3 @boardgame@brettspiele#Brettspiele#boardgames
Played through Aeon's End: Legacy with my friend Dan in two weekends flat. That was a LOT of fun, and made for us two custom, unique breach magi that we can use in (re-)playing the New Age box and then the Outcasts campaign.
All in all, loved it. Tempted to do a custom box to hold our magi. Planning an expedition for the two of us for the next time we get to play.

Tried the reworked Starship Catan and apart from a few dodgy component choices it seems a worthwhile update. Particularly as our old copy was getting quite worn. I actually performed worse than I ever have and only got to 4 VP before Raphael won.
