hey y'all. i'm looking for some #help putting together a new #hifi setup. last week i acquired an #Aiwa brand #turntable and three matching #speakers, and i'd really like to find a matching #amplifier, but so far my search results have been suboptimal.
my turntable is an Aiwa PX-E860, and i have one Aiwa SX-C605 center speaker and 2 Aiwa SX-R275 stereo speakers. the turntable has a 2001 manufacture date, so i'm betting the speakers are about the same since i found them all in the same place.
i can't find a product catalogue or anything from around that time, so i'm truly at a loss as to what model of amplifier i should be looking for.
Testing the switching characteristics of cheapo PC817 optocouplers from Ebay.
555 timer astable is generating a 37kHz square wave test input.
Rise/fall time is way out of spec for use in #MIDI. But the recommended component, 6N138, is much more expensive.

I tried the #cascode#amplifier trick with the PC817 #optocoupler. IMSAI Guy only showed how the voltage of the transistor base affects the speed of the falling edge. But notice how the rising edge remains largely unaffected.
By comparison, the common mode NPN #transistor amplifier with 150 ohm resistor across base-emitter, yielded noticeably sharper rising/falling edges #electronics#oscilloscope
Putting it out there to all guitar players on Mastodon. I am going to venture into the dark side and buy a profiler for touring. Fractal, Line 6 or Kemper. I need advice.
