I have to admit that #Wikivoyage is really scratching the itch that is my love of spruiking. Today it was adding two of my favourite #London venues, the Union Chapel and The Bill Murray, to the guide for Islington https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/London/Islington
Almost exactly 5 years ago I uploaded the first image on wikimedia to be shown in OsmAnd App. It's interesting to see pictures in a map. I didn't think the images would be of interest to others. Out of almost 400 images, 200+ are in OSM, 24 in Wikidata. 5 images in Wikivoyage. 21 in Wikipedia DE, 12 in Wikipedia JA, 14 in other Wikipedias. Thanks everyone who categorised better my pictures and quickly corrected my typos.
As per #Ethnologue catalog, there are over 7000 living languages worldwide. Only 320 (less than 5%) of these languages have representation across #Wikimedia projects, including #Wikipedia. How do we create new language editions? #WikimediaIncubator ⬇️
Reminder! #WikiVoyage is THE community contributed and #WikiMedia supported travel resource!
WikiTravel is the original source of WikiVoyage. Due to some sort of corporate change, users split off of WikiTravel to make their own site, before things merging/renaming into WikiVoyage.
In general, WikiTravel is much less up to date than WikiVoyage.
When I’m stuck waiting for something, I like to browse random pages from #Wikivoyage. This set of phrases from the #Malayalam language escalates a bit quickly 😬
@tommorris "see #Wikivoyage": Not the best example, considering that for the longest time #Wikitravel barely lost traffic and 10 years later we don't know whether Internet Brands lost any money over the fork.
