Some nine and a half years after a accident that put me hospital and wrote off my beautiful the yearning to get back on two wheels has hit hard.

Took a look at the today and it’s a lovely thing.

The one thing I remember the most is that I never arrived at work or home unhappy. I do think it was good for my head.

It would now be a toy though as I work from home and I have nowhere to store it (moved since and no garage); this makes me sad.

Fellow owners will probably disown me (🤣) but I downsized and traded in my 2015 Guzzi. Opted for a smaller, lighter ride and huge boost in MPG with a 2024 Speed 400.

Was considering a Hunter 350 but for the extra $1,000, I think you get a lot more in the Speed 400. I will miss the unique, analog character of the Guzzi for sure, however.

Uraael, (edited ) to gaming

I've been gaming since the ZX Spectrum. I'm familiar with how absorbing/addictive games can be. But I don't think I've ever been absorbed by a game in quite this way before, that feels so good for me.

Starship EVO ["SEVO"] is a block-building game that's been six years in development with no end in sight. Rough edges abound. Nevertheless, the core building experience has its hooks in me something fierce and is rewarding me with experiences that are speaking to my soul.

Art has always been about Craft. About working beautiful miracles within limitations. SEVO's got me building and designing and problem-solving in a way that seems to have brought new instincts out of me, or at least revitalised old ones. The intuitive itch that a solution is possible, if only you just work it for a little while, dig around in the blocks and possibilities, and you'll find your David within the stone. Such an organic process. You look at one problem, solve it, and it creates new problems ripe for solving. A little journey of discovery and delight. If that sounds frustrating I'm here to say it is a profoundly relaxing space to be in, immersed in the joy of Creation.

Last night I adapted a simple A-B-B-A Logic circuit (the game has a rudimentary wiring system) to become an A>B>A-A I know sex is good but have you ever cracked a logic problem by yourself in a creative building game? So Incredibly satisfying.

TRIUMPH Guitarist RIK EMMETT Reveals OZZY OSBOURNE's Band "Was One Of The Best Rock Bands I Ever Saw. Ever. In My Life" (Video)
In the VRP Rocks clip below, guitarist Rik Emmett reminisces on his experience with Triumph at the iconic US Festival in 1983, where they performed alongside rock luminaries like Van Halen, Mötley Crüe, and Judas Priest. He reflects on feeling like an outlier but proving Triumph's prowess as a band...

: – Allied Forces (1981). I'm not convinced Triumph ever made a "great" LP, due to the Canadian/ CANCON (look it up) tendency to keep one ear firmly on commercial radio. Only Rush managed this with aplomb. But Triumph had the chops and concepts to make "Magic Power," "Allied Forces" and "Fight the Good Fight" classics of prog-lite, a la Styx/ Saga/ Starcastle. To witness the trio's true power, tube their triumphant set at the 1983 US Festival.

Sunny lunch break = first ride for more than a year on my Tiger Explorer
(hadn't been able to support it's weight after breaking my ankle at the end of 2022, so it's been sat in the garage waiting for this moment 😬)

Only a few miles to make sure it - and I - still worked, but felt great to have it out on the road again 😎

Finally got the Barkbuster hand guards back on my . It took me so long to get to it because it involves drilling and slotting the plugs the hand guards mount to. (The stock bars have threaded inserts welded into their ends that the hand guards previously mounted to, but these aftermarket bars don't have those.)

Glad I'm finally comfortable with using the cutting wheel of my at full speed. It didn't take very long at all to do the slotting through the aluminum plugs!

Spotted this morning in Penge Sainsbury car park - a vintage Triumph Mayflower. Only 35,000 were made between 1949-1953. Withdrawn because it was not a sales success unlike it's cheaper competitor the Morris Minor. But is distinctive razor sharp looks remain a childhood memory.

Went on a little spin over Snoqualmie Pass, through Yakima Canyon, and back over Chinook Pass on the way to SoSo Cycles in "Tacoma" (really Fife). Riding my Bonneville with the aftermarket scrambler bars really hammered home how awkward the bars were, so I wanted to talk to someone familiar with cafe racers and so on. Mark at the shop gave me some great suggestions and sent me on my way. (Album)

I was worried that Chinook Pass might be closed, and the lack of traffic heading east as I headed west didn't help. Thankfully, it ended up being open and not too busy.
