just stumbled on « Contract Testing »
and there's a tool for that

This method and tool ensures that a provider and a consumer (for instance betweeen microservices OR a #PHP backend and a React front end) will work nicely together

Presentation by @holly_cummins here: https://hollycummins.com/contract-testing-devoxx-greece/

The tool Holly talks about is called Pact (https://pact.io/)

Will definitely need to dive deeper into this... Sounds very interesting

Calling all library maintainers! 🐍

Python 3.12 is in beta! 🎉

This means no new features are allowed in and it's now time to start testing your code. You might find things in your code to fix, or even better, you might find things to fix in Python itself!

Here's how to do it:

Still trying to catch up with #TWiV. 😅 May 18, 2023: https://www.microbe.tv/twiv/twiv-1008/

The CDC finally issued #ventilation guidance for buildings! 5 air changes per hour. To compare, negative pressure isolation rooms in hospitals have at least 12 air changes per hour. A standard hospital room has 6 air changes per hour. Dr. Griffin would love to see air changes per hour posted on public buildings to make educated decisions about #COVID risk. 1/

A rapid antigen #test (European Sofia brand) was studied in clinical setting. It was less sensitive for omicron and for ppl with lower viral loads compared to RT-PCR. Interestingly, more sensitive in men and older patients. Big takeaway is that we can’t really use RATs to screen for early asymptomatic #COVID cases anymore. Best time to use a RAT is day 2-3 of #symptoms

What does your testing strategy look like for dbt?

On the one hand I'd like to make sure all models are covered by tests but, on the other hand, maintaining tests and test rot is a big concern.

Do you test all models?
Do you care if some models are not covered by tests?

Any input on strategy welcome 🙏

Just moved Tap Monkey from GitHub to Codeberg.

What’s Tap Monkey? It’s a tap test runner that’s also a monkey, of course ;)

In Australië is een op de markt gekomen waarmee je voor 97% zeker kunt vaststellen, aan de hand van een simpele bloedtest.

https://www.news-medical.net/news/20230522/First-diagnostic-test-for-long-COVID-is-available-to-patients-across-Australia.aspx

So when the Emergency Alert Test went off yesterday my first thought was "what is that noise" my second thought when I found the source of the noise was "why is an American accent alerting me?", which led to "it must be a spam text", because surely the UK government can afford to use a British accent, we have lots to choose from. Turns out it was real, good job it wasn't an actual alert. #EmergencyAlert #test #UK

I’m starting a new project to learn about linkers. It’s called ˋweld`, and it lives here https://github.com/Hywan/weld.

I do this on my free time; understand very sporadically.

This toot is a thread to show progress or to ask help.

Before leaving the elf64, I wanted to write some tests. Fortunately for me, parsers written with nom are really easy to test, they are just functions!

https://github.com/Hywan/weld/compare/13be3d2917f945cd347e9394c07853ac692f32de...9e6d55e2e137df3786b257228c7e35042520c0a7

When tests are easy to write, it's a pleasure to test everything.

With this test session, I've been able to fix one panic when reading a string in a data segment with an out-of-range offset.
