I keep seeing #lemmy and #kbin promoted as #reddit alternatives these days, but hardly any mention of #squabbles. Pardon my ignorance as someone completely new to the #fediverse, but I feel like this is a mistake.
Do people actually like being downvoted for their opinions or something? Do people actually like the ability to downvote others?
Squabbles doesn’t have that stupid karma system, and that alone puts it ahead of lemmy and kbin in my book.
(Don’t know about you, but I’m tired of the downvote system being used as a “I don’t like your opinion, so I’m going to be passive-aggressive and press this button in an attempt to censor you” function. Hivemind, Internet bullying is what it is. That’s one of the reasons why I came to Mastodon first.)
Also, Squabbles feels very fresh as well as wholesome and chill. I might just join in one of these times.
@Hyphlosion neither Lemy doesn't have a karma system from what I understood (kbin indeed, does, but it's currently a bit broken, so it's not really used untill it gets fixed). And there are also servers like beehaw that disable the downvote button altogether.
