#soleimani was seen as defending #Iran on its frontlines in #Iraq against an extremist #Sunni group - #ISIS #IS #daesh which was dedicated to the murder of #Shia Muslims, wherever they could find them. there have already been several years of speculation whether in the #Iranian press that Soleimani would actually run for President

When he was assassinated we saw a genuine huge wave of mourning in Iran, his funeral was apparently the biggest mass gathering recorded in Iranian history

#Soleimani ’s assassination seems to have given a new impetus to the so-called #AxisOfResistance - the network of groups in the region doing #ran ’s bidding. This network is far from homogenous - each group has its own agenda.

These range from pure proxies like some #Iraqi militias and #Afghan and #Pakistani #Shia mercenary groups, which are the absolute creations of the #IRGC with little independent decision making power and ideologically absolutely line of the Islamic republic.

The British and Russians invaded Iran in 1941 and guaranteed the Shah would stay in power if Iran surrendered.

That is what happened until 1979. The King of Persian empire was Shah bloodline, not clerics in exile like Khomeini.

You can overlook the Iranian Revolution as a cause for religious world conflicts but you'll only be neglecting the and extending the religious wars for another 50 years.

Palestine was not a nation in both conflicts.
In 1988 the Palestine National Council meeting in Algiers proclaimed the establishment of the State of Palestine.

I see that the apologetics for Israel and their mass murder and invasion of Gaza are already hard at work poisoning the Fediverse with their "Blame the Palestinians, they won't let us take our land and self-deport themselves!!!" bullshit.

Don't even bring that nonsense here. You will get the same treatment other Nazis' get: a nice, swift ass kicking outta here.
