Exactly the same content, posted on the same time, to similar crowd, gets 10x more engagement here than on Twitter, even tho I have 10x less followers here.
Why are people still using Twitter for promotion? And some are paying money thinking they're getting a good deal.
#Question on #posting (I use the #Mastodon site on desktop, #Feditext on my phone): if I #post something with a #hashtag in it, but put the post behind a #CW, is the hashtag then hidden? If not, would people following it need to click through the CW?
I just got a very obviously sincere and thoughtful message from a stranger telling me, in essence, that the way I express my opinions and thoughts pisses them off. It wasn't a troll. It's clear I really bother them, and I get the impression that they speak for a lot of people here.
I'm sorry. I'm not likely to change. But I'm really not trying to provoke anyone.
@CStamp Please remember that when you post to public timelines, it isn't just people who followed you that received a copy of your post.
You can, and probably should adjust the default posting audience to something other than 'public' if you want to suggest they should just unfollow you.
