While it's not quite the start of the weekend yet, I've lost way to much time by being sick these past couple of weeks, so I wanted to get a head start this time.
So what better way to do this than with a new magazine release.
GamesMaster 79 - March 1999 (UK) has just been added to the magazine catalogue.
Decided to pick up 2 ¥5000 PSN cards on Play-Asia last night and grab a bunch of PC-Engine and PSone games that I was still missing on my PS3.
I notice that certain games that I bought before seem to have been delisted over the years...
I was shocked that I didn't have Devil's Crush yet, despite having Alien Crush. No idea how that came to be.
As I'm now thinking about some of my favourite Playstation 3 games, I wanted to do a shoutout to Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes.
This is Capcom's take on Omega Force's Musou (Warriors) games.
Even more over the top and somewhat more of an action game, even if you're not into the whole Musou thing, I still recommend to check this one out.
It is also on the Wii btw.
Absolutely brilliant series that rarely left Japan, sadly.
Somehow my mind is having a ridiculously hard time making sense of the fact that the PS3 is nearly 20 years old. 💀
NES? Sure!
Sega Saturn? No problem!
I can easily and gladly place them in their own time zone.
But 20 years for the PS3. Yeah, this one kinda breaks me. 😱
@OutofPrintArchive I’m hoping as the community develops we get more things like open-source replacement motherboards and FPGAs powerful enough to go beyond PSX. Original hardware is great but eventually those parts are gonna be gone.
@whoisryosuke I'm usually a very stubborn open-standards-only person. The "I had an 'MP3-stick' that also supported Ogg Vorbis because I only had those" kind. The "No binary blobs in my OS and BIOS" kind. But, I admit, secretly, MiniDisc still makes me smile very fondly. So damn neat. Such a shame it arrived late to the scene and was hampered by Sony doing everything in their power to hamstring it's killer feature, perfect copies, by not making proper computer drives for it and only its craptacular NetMD software...
@khalidabuhakmeh I can’t keep up. Was always a PC gamer. Got an Xbox360 and was happy with it. Got a PS4 later on. Absolute trash. Had to reboot it every time I wanted to access the store. Sucked up all the dust it could find. 1 year later it is a noisy potato and warranty laughs in my face.
I’ll stick with PC. This console business is not client friendly. #SteamDeck for me for the next many years. Sony and Microsoft can do their thing. I’m happier with Linux
I have added a new chapter on Extrinsic vs. Intrinsic rotations to our #PlayStation module.
Since the yaw, pitch, and roll sequence of rotations of our ship is always based on the last rotation (respecting the pilot's view), it was important to explain the math for both cases.
Review for Point Blank on PSone from GamesMaster 70 - July 1998 (UK)
Another one of those insanely fun multiplayer games on the PSone.
The system was full of underrated gems like this that didn't get much mainstream coverage.
I actually played a ton of different golf games on different systems. Strangely fun. Never played this one, but it has Mario Golf vibes. I like those kinds of vibes.
