ITS versucht zu booten.

The PDP-10, a computer from Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), played an important role in early computing. It made time-sharing common, and even helped build the early ARPANET, the precursor to modern internet. On this day May 17 1983, DEC announced the cancellation of the PDP-10, marking the end of an era. The PDP-10 legacy lives on in hacker folklore, and the ALT key on your keyboard is a legacy from WAITS, an operating system that ran on the PDP-10.

IT'S ALIVE! #pdp10 #raspberrypi

Oof. That was a job and half. All working first time bar one narky LED who was quickly replaced. Absolutely gorgeous bit of kit.

Quite a few people have been connecting to our new Systems Concepts SC40 PDP-10

Here is an image gallery of what it looks like on the inside:

The SC40 kept the 36bit computing market alive through the 1990s into the 2000s. Services like CompuServe and Tymnet relied on them.

If you're interested in an account, check out https://twenex.org for access to our XKL Toad-2 which will also get you an account on the SC40.
