If I understand this correctly

Because of Apple going their own way instead of Vulkan or keeping up with OpenGL, many of the newer shaderpacks for Minecraft just don't work and I'm basically playing in potato mode?

Ah well. I know the machine's capable. There are just a few thousand details to work out.

@randomgeek #Apple’s priorities center around their own SoCs across mobile, set-top, desktop, and now #XR.

The first version of their #MetalAPI was available to #iOS developers nine months before and shipped with #IOS8 six months before #Vulkan was even announced.

#OpenGL 4.1 on #macOS and #OpenGLES 3.0 on iOS and #iPadOS are still available but were deprecated in favor of #Metal five years ago.

I think it’s less a matter of keeping up and more about not wanting to wait.
