Sad to report that I have had to go back regular from . Unfortunately Mercury has a that causes increased CPU usage on at at least 2 cores, with degrading performance over time. There are also issues currently blocking both Mercury and from building successfully. I'll keep checking back to see if that gets resolved. But for now, back to .

Do you want Firefox to be faster and use fewer resources?

In your address bar type about:config and press enter, then proceed past the warning. Search for pocket, sponsor, VPN, account, relay, and promo.

With each search, change all values from True to FALSE and replace every URL to 0.0.0.0 Then close and reopen your copy of Mozilla Firefox. - Enjoy!

Great, the latest update for 123.0.1 on Tumbleweed just ... disabled all my add-ons because they're (supposedly?) not signed.

Remedy according to the docs?

Uninstall everything and reinstall a signed version! (They're apparently not automatically updated?)

Which, like, totally doesn't destroy the settings.

Dear @mozilla
Please, please, please put the RSS indicator back in Firefox.

People need to know about this technology which empowers users over greedy, controlling corporations.

Update: As many have pointed out, you can use @thunderbird as an RSS feed reader, and there are many add-ons to restore the RSS indicator (one of which I'm already using). But my point is that Firefox needs to lean into RSS as an answer to all the crap that is the modern web, and help educate users about it

I love using ram disks in . I've got plenty of ram, and use ssds, so I have the less important, commonly-written stuff in ram disks.

For example, $user thumbnail directory. Don't care if it gets wiped at reboot, and don't want Thunar / Dolphin et al writing thousands of small files to ssd all the time.

Not sure how meaningful it is, but also have profile dir in memory, synced to ssd every 30 min. Less wear and tear on the ssd, and I've seen no downsides.

Just discovered a new Firefox trick: Three-finger tapping the New Tab button searches the last (or currently) selected text in the default search engine.

Man, Firefox View has gotten really good! I can now finally view all the tabs on my phone, and the symbolic icon on the button is much less noticeable than their logo, that they used before, and conveys the purpose of it a lot better.

Also, having Recently Closed Tabs in there instead of buried under generations of submenus is so nice!

🇺🇸 The Better /kbin update to version 2.1.1 has already landed in the extension stores!
It adds a toggle switch to enable and disable automatic theme changes to the pop-up. Apart from that, the Polish translation in the options has been improved, the file structure has been gently changed, and (FINALLY!) a bug has been fixed, which caused Better /kbin options to open every time the extension was updated (and in some browsers - even every time it was launched). This problem had been present since early versions of the extension, but the source of the problem could not be found - finally, it worked!
If you miss something in the extension or have some interesting ideas about it - reply to this post :)

🇵🇱 Aktualizacja Better /kbin do wersji 2.1.1 już wylądowała w sklepach z rozszerzeniami!
Dodaje ona przełącznik włączający i wyłączający automatyczną zmianę motywu do pop-up'u.
Jeżeli czegoś Wam brakuje w rozszerzeniu albo macie jakieś ciekawe pomysły odnośnie do niego - piszcie :)
