I picked up an old laptop a few weeks ago with a corrupt Windows install on it. I've decided to try Linux again.
#today I downloaded the @linuxmint ISO and ran through the verify process. I went off to burn the DVD, then I remembered my desktop has no DVD burner 🤦♂️
I've just brought a burner from ebay for £5.99. Hopefully getting it by Tuesday.
Normally, both GDM and SDDM have the option to manually click and connect to Bluetooth, should automatically connect fail. This is a useful feature found in both (SDDM and GDM).
In LMDE 6, while the button is there (if you install either), it does not work.
The Linux Mint team maintains two key branches of its distribution. Mint's main edition is based on Ubuntu while a second branch, Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE), is based on Debian 'Stable'. The Linux Mint team has published a new development snapshot of LMDE.
In LMDE 5 the source list uses Debian 11 (bullseye) and the code name for LMDE 5 is "elsie"
To upgrade early, I simply changed from "bullseye" to "bookworm" and not to forget to add the new non-free-firmware to the repo (right after the already existing non-free). And of course, changed "elsie" to the new LMDE 6 code name "faye"
Linux Mint has once again, announced, that they will soon release a beta, but have included no details, no source code, and no developer downloads.
Honestly, if you visit their GitHub, for example, at the time of this posting, there is very little to do with the next release being public (there is some, but not enough for a whole OS).
I have always disliked how Mint Linux seems so scetchy and closed, about their releases.
