Linux Mint Debian 6 (LMDE 6) 😎

In LMDE 5 the source list uses Debian 11 (bullseye) and the code name for LMDE 5 is "elsie"

To upgrade early, I simply changed from "bullseye" to "bookworm" and not to forget to add the new non-free-firmware to the repo (right after the already existing non-free). And of course, changed "elsie" to the new LMDE 6 code name "faye"

sudo apt update

sudo apt dist-upgrade

sudo apt autoremove

sudo reboot

Unlike v5, v6 works great.

In, before some random Mint groupie or developer, jumps out of the woodwork and says,

"But... but... It is not LMDE 6, because you didn't use the ISO or the GUI to update."

Stop. Trying. To. Be. Or. Act. Like. Microsoft.

Because as much as I do like Mint Linux Debian Edition, Mint the company/group come off a little shady and a little arrogant.

As I have said previously, their GitHub will not likely show much of anything until the 1st public beta. The Mint team does not like transparency.

Mint Linux, will only become transparent a little after the fact. They're not known for their forthcoming of their code or their plans until after they have released anything.

Meanwhile, Ubuntu and Debian, which Mint is built off of (depending on your edition you use), are both very transparent. Right now, I could download and install a developer branch without any hassle.

It is another reason why I never recommend, Mint. -- Mint reminds me of Microsoft

By that, I mean, speaking as someone who used to be deep into the Microsoft ecosystem, while in that ecosystem, you kept hoping Microsoft would change their ways.

Mint gives me that same vibe. I like their Debian based distro, the same way I used to like classic Windows, but the company, as much as they claim to be "newbie friendly" has never given me that "newbie friendly" outlook. The OS, maybe, but not the company.

Most of us learn what Mint has done, only after there has been a release.
