Whenever I look at today's #mechanicalkeyboards I am left baffled at their popularity. To me they only offer 2 features more than 20 years ago's mechanical keyboards: bluetooth and LEDs. The latter I do not need, the former only occasionally. And yet these keyboards cost 15/20/30 times more than a perfectly fine Samsung or Logitech equivalent of early 2000s
I really like the arrow key solution on my Ajazz 620T. So much so that I'm surprised other 60% boards are different: you hold down Fn (bottom right) and then ?, Alt, Menu, and Ctrl act as your WASD. It's easy for most people to operate with one hand. #mechanicalkeyboards
Spent some quality time with my Glove80 and Engram-based layout yesterday. I think this is, in fact, the end game. I’m still at 0 wpm on MonkeyType (having not used it or practiced for a couple of weeks), but it just feels really nice.
Several months back I moved to a Corne keyboard (https://github.com/foostan/crkbd), a split 40% keyboard. But I couldn't find a layout that suited so I want to share my thinking in case it helps anyone else.
I mean, I had noticed some yellowing of the GMK Colorchrome #keycaps, but I just came across an unused one…
In reality, they look even yellower. Not quite as yellow as some of the #Atari ST keycaps, but the Colorchromes are less than a year old! At least they have all yellowed equally. #MechanicalKeyboards
