The first page of my "Fantasy/Attempted Comedy" story, The Last Philosopher.
I've been rewriting it again, but this first page still has some issues.
The question is would you keep reading? ☺️
Nouvelle chronique en ligne sur mon blog ! Une petite visite via le lien en bio ou le lien plus bas ! Ça ne vous coûte que quelques secondes mais apporte de la visibilité à mon blog :)
On X, Bluesky, Masto, FB, I have a newsletter and a website-blog (which needs remodelling).
I sometimes offer paid services on them, it has rarely been harder to work as an author and if this offends, unfollow me please. I offer some advice and support free.
#WordWeavers 29/1: Did you write stories when you were a kid?
Oh yes. I can’t really remember a time when I didn’t. The first thing I remember was when I was 7 or 8 and I wrote about a boy named Ajax who lived on a space station. Homage to the Kemlo stories of E C Elliott, long before I’d heard the term ‘fan-fiction’. #writingCommunity#ThreeKindsofNorth#TheSunderingWall#writing#amwriting#mastobooks#books
#WordWeavers 28/1: On a scale of 1—10, how hot is your antagonist? Why?
I'm afraid I find this question vaguely distasteful, and I think that's because Perriad would be utterly appalled by it. She may be an antagonist, and pretty mean to Jerya, but I think to be considered as an object of sexual desire would be revolting for her. Cruel and unusual punishment. #writingCommunity#ThreeKindsofNorth#TheSunderingWall#writing#amwriting#mastobooks#books
#WordWeavers 26/1: Would you co-write a book?
I have done, in non-fiction. The 2nd edition of my Outdoor Photography book was co-authored with Chiz Dakin because her areas of expertise in the outdoors complemented my own. And my most recent guidebook, to Off-Road Cycling in the Lake District, was really a co-production with my partner, but she's too modest to want her name on the cover. #writingCommunity#ThreeKindsofNorth#TheSunderingWall#writing#amwriting#mastobooks#books
#WordWeavers 25/1: What's the least likely relationship between characters in your WIP?
Obviously if Jerya and Perriad suddenly fell on each other declaring undying love, but that’s never going to happen…
There’s one in Book 4 that might qualify, between a girl from a gentry background and a slave, but that isn’t out till August and details are still subject to change. #writingCommunity#ThreeKindsofNorth#TheSunderingWall#writing#amwriting#mastobooks#books #MerryChristmas
#WritersCoffeeClub 25/1. Writing outside your gender/sexuality/race etc?
I do this a lot, especially in terms of writing female characters. I started #ThreeKindsofNorth intending that Jerya and Rodal would be equally prominent, but she claimed more of the limelight, and she’s the backbone character of the whole series. It’s her doing, not mine.
Some time soon I aim to do a Substack post going into this in more depth. #writingCommunity#TheSunderingWall#writing#amwriting#mastobooks#books
#WordWeavers 23/1: If your book was a movie, what would it be rated and why?
It would depend how the director handled the sex scenes. It isn't possible to leave them out entirely—but there's really only one that matters (F/F) in #ThreeKindsofNorth. No need to be too explicit. I guess it would be PG on the UK rating system but I wish it could be U. #writingCommunity#TheSunderingWall#writing#amwriting#mastobooks#books
#WritersCoffeeClub 22/1. Have you ever used storyboarding?
Not in fiction, and I have no intention of using any other plotting or outlining tools either.
I've done all sorts of planning for non-fiction books, some mapped out page by page, which is pretty much like storyboarding. I can’t do it in fiction and no longer have any inclination even to try. #writingCommunity#ThreeKindsofNorth#TheSunderingWall#writing#amwriting#mastobooks#books
